Reasons to Celebrate

Last week WeCraftCards Forum hosted its annual June Crop, this year it's named Musical Mania. Today I was able to make cards to enter into the Crops four challenges, which I'll be posting over the next few days. This card, inspired by the Grinch movie poster fit into the "Seussical the Musical" challenge. I sketched the Grinch and cut him from lime green cardstock. Added some texture to the card with buttons and ribbon on the ornament and white fur on his jacket cuff. So fun. The inside sentiment and little candy cane tag are from my scrapbook stash.
Am entering this card into several challenges including 2craftycrittercrazies Challenge [A Grinch counts as a critter, doesn't he?]

The next Crop card challenge was named "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers." We were to [create a card using only 7 items on our card, no more and no less. [The card base doesn't count.] I had fun making the card... but when I was just counting the items I realized that I'd messed up. I originally had the required seven. Then... after I made the inside sentiment I decided it needed something to add a bit of color and pulled out my favorite little pack of puffy heart stickers. When I was finished,  I noticed that the pocket on the front could also use a bit of color so added there... not even thinking about the fact that I was adding one additional item to the count. Acckkk. I posted it to the challenge even though it can't be considered for the drawing because I didn't follow the instructions. [Once again, I am reminded that math has never been my best thing... but I CAN count to seven. At least most days. Ha.]
Here is the list of my layers- 1. rosebud paper, 2. navy paper, 3. tan doily,  4. cream colored oval with roses digi [uncolored, just added to provide some depth], 5. roses- colored and fussy-cut, 6. denim paper pocket, 7. Authentic sentiment [upcycled from the label on the sheet of denim scrapbook paper that I used to make the pocket], 8. puffy heart sticker.
Note- the roses are from a free coloring page that I found at timewarpwife.com a while ago. However, it looks like it is no longer available. If you visit the home page and search "Coloring Pages" you can find some wonderfully details drawings that are included in many of the author's bible studies and journaling pages.

My final card for this challenge was created for the Do-Al[l] Creative challenge that features "Lift Cards." I'd never seen one of these cards, even after checking Pinterest and googling it…. so am glad that the challenge site DTs provided several sample cards. [You can see them HERE.] Their cards included tags that "lift" making a sentiment visible. I made a few cards earlier this month but learned that I didn't correctly follow the instructions. For this card I did! The front of the card includes a single tag… that stays put. The inside includes two tags, one that lifts to show a sentiment.  The sweet little wedding couple stamp on the front is a long retired image from either Hero Arts or Printworks. [I can't remember which and removed the image from the wood mount years ago.] The silver wedding cake image on the inside tag is a sticker from my scrapbook stash. And the sentiment on the front of the card and under the inside tag are from a We Are 3 digital sentiment set named Dreams. [You can find it HERE for just $1.50.]
