myasperations 11-30-23a

This card is my last entry into the November challenge at Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers  (BYSHC on FB.) I’ve never been a big fan of using sketches, but I like that the sketches at BYSHC are usually pretty simple, yet striking. This month’s sketch is a prime example of that! The inside sentiment is from a wonderful little stamp shop that I stumbled upon when I won a gift certificate a Paper Lover’s Blog Hop several years ago. Since then I’ve learned that artist/owner, Jessica Pickeral, is talented, generous, and kind. Plus, I love that her young daughter, Sadie, is an entrepreneur, creating and selling jewelry, stickers and other items… while learning about building a business from her talented mom. Stop by the Polka Dot Orchard website to see some adorable photos of Sadie at work, and to appreciate here momma’s artwork.

Supplies:

·   Digi-partially upcycled from an old card with mug made from paper scraps

·   Front Sentiment “Hot Chocolate Wishes” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Christmas Cheers)

·   Inside Sentiment- “Merry Christmas” from Polka Dot Orchard

Entered into:
{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge FB- #39 Nov 2023
The Paper Shelter- #578 Colours of Winter

The Beccy’s Place digi on this card is becoming one of my favorites… partly because it looks so yummy! I also love all things “autumn” and am an avid coffee drinker (preferably with a few glugs of vanilla, caramel, or hazelnut creamer.) Ahhh, heaven!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Sunday Challenge based on the poem “ The Calendar” by Barbara-Euphan-Todd  (my card includes several of Autumns “Crimson leaves.”) Oh… and you might have noticed that I used the same sketch to create the base for this card as the one above. This time I just flipped it

Supplies:
·   Digi and sentiments are from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (CafĂ© Elements)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment “Fall Breeze, Autumn Leaves…” from RG Ave (Company no longer in business)

I’ve had this cute little Conie Fong penguin digi and sentiment for a few years… and does a wonderful job in her role as the letter “O” in this popular Christmas sentiment! The remaining letters were upcycled from a “Welcome Baby” banner that I found in the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby last year. Their pretty pastels provided the palette for this nontraditional Christmas-colored card.
Supplies:
·   Digi and inside sentiment  from Conie Fong- (Candy Cane Penguin)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   All other items from my stash.

I used the Sketch from the {BYSHC} Sketch Challenge on FB (which I also used on the 2nd card on this post because I love how easily it goes together!) I love fall leaves. So they take center stage on my card.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Sunday Challenge based on the poem “ The Calendar” by Barbara-Euphan-Todd (its theme is autumn with its “Crimson leaves.”)

Supplies:
·   Inside Sentiment- “May your blessings be plentiful” from Power Poppy Digital Set (Autumns Opulence

This card was created for the {BYSHC} Sketch Challenge on FB (which has helped me to really enjoy using sketches when creating cards, and also using up some of my bazillion… I mean my “many”…  paper scraps!) I also had fun using a brand new Santa Bird digi, plus a handful off die cut and sticker snowflakes. The color scheme was inspired by the current Cupcake Challenge, requiring the use of three colors- navy blue, white and metallic gold. I didn’t realize that color combo could be so neat!
Supplies:
·   Digi- Sweet November Stamps (Santa Bird)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Happy New Year patterned paper- freebie

·   Front Sentiment “Let it snow…” from Lili of the Valley Digi Set (Christmas Wishes)

·    Inside Sentiment- “Merry” from Stampendous Christmas Bright die set

·   Gold photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   Stickles- Diamonds

·   Snowflake stickers, patterned paper, and other items from my stash.

I love this time of the year, not just because I get a lot of ‘holidays’ from work, but especially because we have a trio of holidays within about 6 weeks. And they include scripture fulfilled, gifts and lots of yummy foods. My final card this posting, finishes out my trio with a New Years Card. I made it for my sweet hubby since we were married during this trio of holidays 46 years ago next month. I can’t remember life without him… and love how he makes me laugh out loud.  (On our 35th Anniversary I teased him that we’d shared 25 years of “wedded bliss”, 7 years of “pretty good”, and 3 years of “what were we thinking?!” His quick and snarky response was, “Hon, I think you got those last two mixed up!” Ha! See what I mean?)
I used a paint program (which is FREE, see link in my supplies list) to layer the png version of the image atop a freebie jpg background image, changing the transparency of the digi so that the Happy New Year text shows through the bottle. Since I didn’t want the champagne bucket and strawberries to be transparent, I printed off a copy of the digi, colored and fussy-cut these items, and then adhered them atop the sentiment layer.

Supplies:

·   Digi- Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Champagne)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Free Paint.net program can be found HERE (you can add watermarks, layer digis, and more!)

·   Background- Eyelet Outlet Freebie (Happy New Year’sClick on the link next to the image

·   Inside Sentiment- Computer Generated

myasperations 11-28-23

I was looking for a good way to showcase a sweet digi from Sweet November Stamps when I found a packet of Pop-Up Christmas Tree cards I found at a thrift store several years ago. This is the first one of them I’ve used, and I’m already thinking of other digis or stamps that will work well with them.) A playful Santa peeks in on the little girl who excitedly awaits his arrival. And he better get there soon as she’s enjoying the cookies that she made just for him! The front sentiment adheres to a belly band that I made to hold the thick card together.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge (my card includes at least three of the colors in the Inspiration photo- green tree boughs, yellow ornaments, and pink dots in her jammies. I also added sentiments on both the front and inside.)

Supplies:
·   Front Digi- Dustin Pike Freebie (Santa)

·   Inside Digis-(Little girl, plate of cookies and Santa sign) Sweet November Stamps (Cookie)

·   Front Sentiment “Wishing you a Merry…” We Are 3 Digital Sentiments Set (Christmas)

·   Inside  Sentiment-“Believe in the Magic…” from Imagine That! (company no longer in business)

·   Christmas Tree Pop-Up card- packet found at local thrift store

·   All other items from my stash.

This box of thrift store cards was in the same bin that held the card used above… and it was fun to add some sparkle to the Christmas Bauble (I like that word so much more than “ornament”) and the beautiful Christmas Fairy that adorns it! I used a circular gift tag-with both shine and bling- to replace the cut-out on the front of the card, then added assorted snowflake stickers to the card front and inside. The red sentiment on the inside is from my scrapbook stash.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including the Butterfly Challenge (which this time of the year changes to “Fairy Time.” The challenge sponsors creativity never ceases to amaze me. Thanks, Mrs. A!)

Supplies:

·   Digi- All Dressed Up (Christmas Baubles)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Inside Sentiment- Sticker from my Scrapbook stash

·   Card base and matching envelope from a box found at a local thrift store

·   Stickles-Diamonds

This last card I made for my younger sister, Judi. I’ve always loved her sassy personality… and I know that the sentiment on this card will make her laugh out loud. Possibly because we’ve laughed about this possibility in the past… and by now have both probably taken that face-plant ourselves. Honestly, granny panties should come with a warning label, right?! (Actually, my other sister, Carol, was also in on that discussion, so I’m going to make one more of these cards and give her a chuckle, too.)
I’m entering this card into several challenges including The Paper Shelters’ Family theme (I may have even resembled the sweet young lady on this card in my younger age… before the granny panty decade hit… about a decade and a half ago!!), Double D’s Stripes and/or Spots (my card features both!)

Supplies:

·   Digi- Angie Blom Digital Designs (Birthday Girl Sass)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment-a Freebie from gingershouse.blogspot.com (You talk a lot of smack)

·   All other items from my stash.
