End o' the Month Craftin'

This castle stamp was from one of the first SU sets that I purchased a few decades ago. I love pairing it with a funny sentiment. Plus vellum always adds elegance to a card.

Made an Asian inspired card for the Snippets challenge. I always hate tossing all the little bits and pieces of beautiful patterned paper, especially when it is expensive Chinese paper gifted to me by a friend. The Pinwheel card is actually very easy to make. Finished it up with a Chinese coin from my stash and a bit of red cording. (Here are instructions for the pinwheel- www.owhstarsandstamps.org/2011/04/tutorial-pinwheel-ii.html  )

I don't usually use buttons on my cards because the thickness makes them harder to mail. But I made an exception with this card. I have a ton of scrapbooking paper and was fun to put some of it to good use. The flower is also cut from scrapbooking paper. A fast and easy to make card!

A Trio of Seasons

Right now, as winter surrounds me, I love the hint of Spring this sweet sketch that artist Beccy Muir created. (It's here… and it's free! beccysplace.blogspot.ca/2012/02/do-over.html) I made the pocket with a scrap of denim background paper plus a white gel pen. The little sentiment tag is from Lili of the Valley. The delicate lace strip and muted background paper add a wonderful vintage feeling to the card.

Moving from Spring into summer, I look forward to enjoying a sweet and tangy glass of lemonade on the front patio. Doesn't that sound wonderful? (It sure does to me. Right now I am wearing two pairs of wool socks in order to feel my toes!) The images in Power Poppy's "Tea In The Garden Stamp Set" speak summer to me.  Made this card for the current Power Poppy challenge which requires the use of a sketch this month from this website- www.pagemaps.com/cardmapsI'm also entering the card into the Double D's current challenge "Kitchen is the Heart of the Home" mood board. My inspiration is the yellow checked apron and the glass pitchers.

My final posting tonight is a reminder that winter still is in full swing. But it does have a positive side… snow people! I think I'll just sit inside and enjoy them through the window… in my wool socks… and enjoying a mug of steaming hot chocolate. Life is good!
(The sentiment is from the set "Seasonal Windows" from Beccy's Place and the snowman is a public domain image from www.clipartpal.com/clipart_pd/holiday/christmas/christmasscenes_11127.html and the )

Scripture Greeting

I recently won a TlcCreation digi set of my choice. I selected "Bible Verses 2 Vintage Journal Cards" (www.etsy.com/listing/573304789/bible-verses-2-printable-vintage-journal)  Attached one of the journal cards onto the card with black photo mounts. Traced the butterfly onto orange vellum, fussy cut and adhered it to the card. Finished it with some small deep orange colored rhinestones. Quick to make and sweetly elegant.

Wanted to make a few kid cards to mail out to special little people. And who will make them smile more than Olaf?  Printed this wonderful "Build a Snowman" image set from the web (lovebugsandpostcards.com/disney-frozen-olaf-build-snowman-printable) and with a bit of fussy cutting and adhering, made a card that is sure to be loved!

Kitchen Fun

The current challenge at Double D features a mood board with a great theme- Kitchens! I created an apron card with several layers of patterned paper.  Added ribbon ties and scrapbook utensils.  Printed the sentiment for the front and back of the card on my computer.

I love this sweet little image from Whimsy named "Penguin Light Me Up." Decided to use the image for a Valentine card by converting the Christmas lights into red heart lights. (I didn't have any red vellum, so I drew the hearts with a fine-line permanent marker on red plastic document folders.  They come in a pack of assorted colors and you can find them in office supply stores. They are often cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  They are also easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors.)

Had fun making this card using a wonderful image from The Paper Shelter named "Snowboarder Girl." The background is a photo cut from a magazine page that features winter sports. I liked the icicles along the top of the photo. As soon as I saw it, I knew that I had to put it to good use!  Colored the beautiful young snowboarder with Spectrum Nior. I added a close up so that you can see the wonderful details in this image. Added a bit of bling with Polar White Flower Soft mixed with micro-fine clear glitter.  The sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations (createwithtlc.blogspot.com)

Snowflakes and Hearts

Dearie Dolls images are what moved me from stamping images to printing them off on my computer. These days I use wood mounted stamps, clear stamps and especially digis (which are so much easier to store!) I love this sweet Dearie Dolls image, that I colored with my Spectrum Noir markers and white gel pen

Worked on this card while my DH and I watched a movie. Because... well... I can NEVER just sit and watch TV! The image is fromLittle Scraps of Heaven blog- lshdesigns.blogspot.com.
(They have a ton of wonderful images. Some free, some for sale, but VERY reasonably priced. And if you like paper piecing they work perfectly for that. This is a new image to me.)  I traced the jar onto a scrap of acetate and paper pieced the fabric topper and ribbon. The candy hearts are dimensional stickers from Jolee's Boutique I've had in my stash for some time. Might need to see if I can find more of them! I also provided a close up of the image so that you could see the acetate and candy hearts. I adhered the acetate to the card by taping it to the inside of the topper and then adhered that to the card with double-stick tape. The bottom of the jar is held in place with a few of the candy heart stickers appropriately placed.

For my card, I used an image and sentiment (inside of the card) from Tiddly Inks. You can find it here www.tiddlyinks.com/digital-stamps/froggie-thoughts). I did add the first sentiment "Kiss me. All your friends with be green with envy." inside of my card. I blinged up the card a bit with a gem on his crown and a smattering of purple rhinestones. The red lips are from my hair stylists business card. (I might have to give the card to her to share with her hubby. I think it will make them smile... which is its purpose!)

Happy [craft room] Camper 6

This is my final card for the Bugaboo Stamps 8th Birthday Celebration. The Day 7 Challenge is a color challenge plus sprinkles. For this card, I used one of my favorite Bugaboo digi images, an adorable sitting unicorn. I used snippets (aka scraps) of different colored scrap papers to create the background (using a Sketch from this month's Power Poppy Challenge) and also colored his mane and tail in bright hues of the rainbow. The sprinkles are small purple gems, to add a bit of bling to the card so that it isn't too blah (ha! I think the rainbow and bling took care of that issue. )

One of my newest digis from Di's Digis called Peace on the Prairie (Now on sale for $1 at www.disdigistamps.com/store/p1045/Peace_on_The_Prairie.html ) looks sweet on this card using the split front card technique that I found here collseyscraftycorner.wordpress.com/2016/02/11/split-front-card/  I colored the side of her head that pops above the card front and like the results. The outside greeting reads, "A Joy that's shared is a Joy made double." And the inside reads, "May your birthday be bright with God's gifts of Happiness, Peace, and Love."
I love that she is stargazing with two furry friends. And also like how it looks like she has moon glow on her hair. That wasn't planned, but I do like the result. Might have to add a moon to that starry sky. The moon on Di's image "Love to the moon and back" would work well.

Happy [craft room] Camper 5

Day 6 Challenge at Bugaboo Stamps 8th Birthday Celebration this week is a Recipe Challenge. We are to create a project using Kraft, Ribbon & Bold Colors. Once again I used the cute little Bugaboo image with the cupcake and penguin (two of my favorite things) and another humorous sentiment from my files. To add an additional bit of fun on the inside of the card, I printed off and colored another trio of the digi balloons, then fussy cut and "tied" them to the sentiment. (Am entering this card into several challenges, including Power Poppy which requires the use of a sketch from this website- www.pagemaps.com/cardmaps and SumMoreFun. I added a bright ribbon and use patterned papers that look like they have sprinkles!)

This beautiful digi, named Lizzy, from Whimsy Stamps was offered as a freebie on the "Whimsy Stamps and Inspiration" FB page in mid-September. I had fun coloring it with my Spectrum Noir markers, fussy-cutting the sweet image and attaching her atop a recycled vintage card that one of my mom's treasure boxes.

Happy [craft room] Camper4

Bugaboo Stamps is celebrating their 8th Birthday this week with daily challenges. Day 5 is a Humor Me With Cupcakes Challenge. (even the title of this one makes me chuckle!) The image is a recent Bugaboo Freebie… and the funny sentiments (front and inside of the card) are from my files. (I have collected funny sayings for over 40 years, so don't have a clue where this one is from.)  The single candle was fussy cut from a Bugaboo birthday cake image and attached to the top of the cupcake to fit with the sentiment.

Crafting another card for the current Craftin' Desert Diva Winter Mood Board Challenge on FB using the sweet little fairy and sentiment from a digi set named "Magical Day. Stamped random snowflakes and mini stars on a sheet of vellum with white craft ink and highlighted them with silver and white gel pens. Mounted the vellum behind an oval window on a glossy white card, then added a layer of striped background paper behind the vellum to make the stars and snowflakes stand out. Added a sprinkling of glitter and the sentiment. Then printed, colored and fussy cut the little fairy and adhered her to the card front so that she could fling bits of bling across the card. (Attention, Jack Frost. Your job might just be in jeopardy!)
Am entering this card into several challenges including several mood board and color challenges. (Used the color scheme from the SumMoreFun Mood Board, and the colors and snowflakes from the CDD Winter Mood Board.)
