Colorful Trio of Cards

Imagine That Digi Stamps is sponsoring Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge. As a DT I loved picking one Imagine That’s sets to highlight one of owner Kris Breach’s wonderful artwork. This card features a digi image and two sentiments from the set named “Llama Kisses.” I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen and added a little bling with a sparkly heart sticker.
One added note- The designer/owner of Imagine That, Kris Breach, provides her DTs with a coupon code that allows any friends a discount on their next digi order. If you stop by the shop I know that you'll find lots of digis you'll want to add to your collection. Then, make sure to enter your card into this months challenge with an "Anything Goes" theme for a chance to win a $12 coupon to the Imagine That Digistamp shop, or a Top 3 award which includes 2 free digi sets of your choice and an invite to be our Guest Designer in the next challenge!  You can find the full rules HERE.

Three Seasons

This card featuring a sweet image from All Dressed Up named “See-Saw” is my entry into the Spectrum Noir month-long event named “Spectember.” Day 29’s challenge is Crazy for Bright Colors. I used several of my bright Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers and highlighted the image with a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The inside sentiment “You Make Me Happy” is a freebie from HERE. Am entering this card into several other challenges including The Butterfly Challenge (Color: Mint Butterfly and Theme: Markers)

I love the details in Power Poppy images and had fun with this challenge that required using an image colored in Sepia tones. I selected a Power Poppy digi named Chickadee in Barberry, printed in off in sepia, colored it with Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiments on the front and inside are both from the digi set. Added a bit of bling by mixing some clear glitter with polar white Flower Soft to create the sparkly, fluffy snow on the branches. (I took a photo in different lighting to show the bling.) Am entering the card into a few other challenges including Outlawz Tuesday Challenge (TicTacToe: Bling, Sentiment, and Stamp- digi in sepia.)

The background is an upcycled calendar page. The front sentiment “Welcome Fall” is a freebie from HERE. And the inside sentiment is from a We Are 3 Digital Sentiment set named "Autumn Sentiments."

Spectember & Oreos

I’ve enjoyed being part of month-long event named “Spectember” sponsored for Spectrum Noir products. Here are my entries for two more of the challenges.

Spectember Day 27 Challenge is “Create a Background.” I used Stampscapes trees and grasses to create a scenic background. The owl, a wood mount stamp from a company named Northwoods stamps that appears to no longer be in business,  is printed on kraft brown paper and colored with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiment is computer generated. Kraft

Spectember Day 28 Challenge is “Birthday Celebration.” For this card, I used a special image from a digi company named Craftin’ Desert Divas that recently closed due to family health issues. I’ve collected several adorable images from CDD over the years, and this one, named “Coffee Hero” is one of my favs. I nabbed the “Bat Car” digi during their close-out sale and was fun to include it on this card. The base of the card is actually from a set of boxed cards that I picked up a few months ago at Goodwill. I love the bold sentiment patterns that cover the card fronts. I sketched out and fussy-cut a batman symbol from yellow vellum to add a bit more color to the front of the card. The “But First Coffee” sentiment on the inside is a freebie from HERE. And the digis are colored with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen.

Wisconsin Proud

It’s Friday, so time for another challenge at QKR Stampede!  Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself? My DT card features a QKR digi image and sentiment (Q-digi3301 Wisconsin & Q-digi13404 Cow Ferrie). Since I live in Wisconsin, I love the funny image of the state map with … um… teats! The cow is cropped from another fun image of a fairy Cud Mother! I colored both with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen.  I added a layer between the two images and added computer generated sentiments. Will be sending this card to a friend whose hubby is a 3rd generation dairy farmer.

I wanted to make a special card for this cute image from Di’s Digi named “Jolly Reindeer.”  I made a tunnel card using the tutorial that I found HERE However, I decided that I didn’t want to fold the cute little reindeer image in half, so came up with a variation of the tunnel fold with a flip center. I colored the image, then made it “float” inside of the “window” by taping thin white cord onto the back of the image and the inside of the window. (It took a little work to get it to work correctly, but I like the way it turned out.) The sentiments are from a We are 3 digital set named “Christmas Greetings.”

Spectember Trio

I’m a little behind in completing the Spectember challenges, mainly because I’ve been avoiding two of the challenges that were particularly challenging for me. I prefer to be precise in my cardmaking, so doodling and pointillism are tough for me. I also don’t use sketches very often. But… I had the day off so knocked out all three of these challenges.

For the Day 19 Sketch challenge I used a few freebies from Dearie Dolls. The trio of Superheroes can be found HERE and the sweet little superwoman can be found HERE . I flipped the sketch so that the sentiment is across the top, otherwise followed it pretty closely. The sentiments are computer-generated. In case you can’t read them, they say FRONT-“May your birthday be a… INSIDE- Kapow! Wham! Zap! Smash! Celebration!”)  and the stickers on the inside are from Oriental Trading Company (we gave them out with treats for Halloween last year.) The inside of the card features a simplified version of this fold I found on Pinterest. The images are all colored with Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen.

For the Day 20 Doodle Challenge, I sketched a pineapple image, then filled the fruit segments and leaves with zentangle doodles. When finished, I colored the pineapple with Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiment is a freebie from Desert Diva.

For the Day 22 Pointillism Challenge was by far the hardest for me. After a few failed attempts, I finally decided to trace a few butterfly images from a Eureka Stamps digi (ES 58501- Butterfly background) onto vellum.  I then used a fine-line sharpie marker to draw dots over the pencil lines. When finished, I colored the image from the back with Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers then used the black fine-line marker and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen to add more definition to the front of the image. I then fussy-cut the image. Am thinking I’ll use it on a card. But for now… I need to wait for inspiration to strike!
