myasperations 11-28-22

I love sweets and chocolate. So these cupcakes naturally speak to me! I paired them with festive colored papers so I could enter the card into the current challenge at The Paper Shelter. So fun! (Oh… and I wasn’t sure if pastels are bright enough to be considered as “Festive” so I did some google research. And they are! (Check HERE for the link.)

I also love snow… so snow people often show up on my cards. This friendly snow guy stands out (or should I say stands up?!) on an easy-to-make easel card. (PS- As I post this card we are in the middle of a winter storm. Heavy snows are forecast, with up to 5 inches of the white stuff within the next few hours, and the wind is supposed to pick up by mid-afternoon. So, I decided to make it an official snow day. I’ll work a few hours and then use some hours of PTO to spend the rest of the day in my craft room. Yay! Snow days still create as much excitement for me at they did 5-6 decades ago!)

I had fun making this card with a sweet digi from The Paper Shelter, upcycled Hershey’s Kiss wrappers/tags, a few sentiments and other items from my stash. So fun!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including the Path Of Positivity’s- “Celebrate the Simple Things in Life” (this time of the year, as winter sets in, one of my favorite things is to enjoy a mug of hot chocolate at the end of a long day. Sometimes with a titch of peppermint schnapps added to the mug, and/or a few Hershey’s kisses. Ahhhh, heaven!)

I love November, partly because that is when Beccy Muir at Beccy’s Place hosts her Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge. Each day, Beccy provides a theme (most based on the letters of the alphabet) and invites participants to create cards for ANY holiday using images from ANY company. And… she offers several prizes on a daily and weekly basis. So there is no reason not to get involved!
I wanted to make a card using Beccy’s digis, but also one I could enter into the Pixie's Snippets challenge. I love that this challenge encourages me to use the scraps, i.e. snippets, that I just can’t stand to toss! I enlarged the digi to fit the front of an A-2 sized card front (being able to change the size of digis is one of the reasons I prefer using them these days!) After fussy-cutting the letters J-O-Y from the sentiment, I positioned bits and pieces of patterned papers, and scraps of ribbon to fill each open space in crazy-quilt-type patterns. (Note- I like picking up boxed sets of cards/envelopes at Hobby Lobby whenever I find them on sale. These cards have white interiors and wonderful patterns on both the front and back. Since I hate to waste patterned papers. I cut them along the fold, and the box of 50 cards provides me with twice that many A2-sized card fronts, or even more bookmarks, gift tags, etc. I fussy-cut several of the little gingerbread cookies from one of the patterned papers to create embellishments for the card.)
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Sunday Challenge “ The Little Christmas Carolers” (when I was a child, I  remember that I loved wearing a warm, tartan plaid cape/coat, which would have been a perfect caroling outfit. Ahhh, if only I didn’t sound like a howling cat when I try to sing!!)

myasperations 11-20-22a

This is my second entry into Power Poppy’s challenges named “Gold, Silver, and Shimmer.” I decided to make another card using artist Marcella Hawley’s sweet Christmas Corgi’s digi set. Earlier this year I made a card using this cute Corgi for the Queen's jubilee since it is her favorite dog breed. I’d paper-pieced a quilted background for that card, and decided to duplicate it for this card… except I added additional bling to add more shimmer! This time I adhered the elegant quilt to shiny gold cardstock. A glittery Santa hat and Holly sprigs add holiday sparkle to the front and inside of the card. So fun!
I’m entering this card into several other challenges including Beccy’s Place Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge (this card fits into the “C is for… Corgi” and the wonderful front sentiment is from a Beccy’s Place set.)

Supplies:

·   Digi- Power Poppy Digi Set (Christmas Corgi) Also available in clear cling set

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment- “Ready or Not…” from Beccy’s Place Digital set (Here Comes Christmas)
·   Inside Sentiment- Power Poppy Digi Set (Christmas Corgi)

·   Sparkly Stickers- Hobby Lobby

·   Paper scraps, ribbon, gold/silver trims, cardstock and other items from my stash.

The challenge at wecraftcards this week is a Photo Inspiration. Elaine, the challenge host notes, “I was recently pet-sitting and saw this sign over the bed. I thought it went well with the Thankful and Grateful theme. Use any of the sign's words in your card or if you would prefer something different, feature a cat (or even a gray headboard!)” Did I forget to mention that Elaine is both talented AND has a wonderful sense of humor? Well… she does!

I looked through my digis and found two sentiments that are a perfect fit! An autumn-themed napkin, plus stamped and fussy-cut leaves, complete the lovely card.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Incy Wincy DesignsEncourage a Friend“- This month’s challenge is a tribute to STAMPlorations artist/owner Shery Russ who was diagnosed earlier this year with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with metastasis to the right pelvis. You can learn about her journey to recovery, and help Shery and her family, by purchasing from STAMPlorations. The store is partially open- with product bundles on offer for up to 64% off. Link to the store HERE for details!

This month’s Sheepski Designs FB Challenge theme is “Christmas is Coming” and I had fun making my DT card using artist Andrea Norris’ wonderful digi named “Garden Party.”  The adorable Gnome pack (or troupe?) fits so beautifully with this sheet music from the web (and it’s a freebie!) Even though one of the Gnomies appears to be singing, the rest are grinning for the camera or trying to be funny with a thumbs-up sign and a Bronx cheer/raspberry. (Oh well. They are a happy, hairy, and handsome group!)
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Sunday- The Little Christmas Carolers (Gnomes are little, right? And one of them is maybe actually singing?!), and Path Of Positivity’s- Celebrate the Simple Things in Life (one of the things that many people might call a simple thing, but I call it a simply lifesaving thing, is a sense of humor. Next month my hubby and I celebrate our 45th anniversary. I am so thankful he is in my life, and that God has given both of us a sense of humor. Over the years we’ve experienced many struggles with chronic health issues, job losses, and more. But one thing that has helped us survive all that life has thrown at us is being able to regularly laugh, often so hard that our stomachs hurt!)
Supplies:
·   Digi-Sheepski Designs (Garden Party)

·   Sheet Music- I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause HERE

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Puffy Heart Stickers- Stickos

For the 10th year, artist/owner, Beccy Muir at Beccy’s Place is offering her Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge. Every day in November Beccy provides a theme (most based on the letters of the alphabet) and invites participants to create cards for ANY holiday using images from ANY company. And… she offers several prizes on a daily and weekly basis. So there is no reason not to get involved.
Due to a hectic month, this is only my second card for the challenge (but I hope to get lots more made and entered over the next few days!) It features an image and sentiment from one of my favorite Beccy’s Place digi sets, Lamb of God.  It went together quickly, with just a bit of coloring and fussy-cutting plus items from my stash. And I love its beautiful message of LOVE!

·   Baby Jesus Digi and inside sentiment - from Beccy’s Place (Lamb of God) Available in digital or clear set

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment- Taylored Expressions Love Die (appears to be retired)

·   Galaxy paper- Hobby Lobby

I was so happy earlier this year when Power Poppy started offering challenges again. The them for the current challenge is named “Gold, Silver and Shimmer.” A good friend is a Corgi lover, so this card will be sent to her this year. I had fun giving this little fluffy-butted cutie center stage, perched on a Christmas ornament (gold with a top made from a scrap of metallic paper scored with a paper clip.) The front sentiment, from Beccy’s Place, seemed to fit with the excited pups' leap. Watch out Santa… and everyone else within jumping distance!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Time Out Challenge-Photo Prompt (my little Corgi is leaping just like the cute puppies in the photo. So fun!) and  Colorful Options Monthly Challenge- Beautiful Burgundy (the rich burgundy paper behind the Corgi provides nice contrast to the tans, cream and gold, and the poinsettia petals are a deep, almost burgundy, shade of red!)
