Lions & Unicorns & Beverages oh my!

Used a free template from www.papercraftsmag.com/content_downloads/C28_Pattern.jpg to create this card using scraps of patterned paper, sheer ribbon, plus red and regular vellum. The vellum sentiment is from a packet of scrapbook sentiments. Added some bling with silver photo corners and glitter along the rim.  VoilĂ !

For my final entry into the Sketch Saturday Challenge, I used a digi and sentiments from a site named Useless Trinkets (uselesstrinkets.wordpress.com/freebies), however, I couldn’t get the sentiments to print off clearly, so retyped the internal one in the font named Kristin. Included a close up of the unicorn to show how I colored his mane (and tail) to match the ribbon.

Love this sweet Lili of the Valley digi named "Little Mermaid Friends." It works perfectly with Hero Arts "Reef Border and Frame Fancy Die" which I popped up with foam mounting tape. I created the sentiments on my computer using a fun font named Blackadder. You can't see it in the photo, but I painted the mermaids with Twinkling H2Os Shimmering Watercolors which add a wonderful shimmer to their scales.

For my final entry into the Bugaboo Stella Says Sketch, I used Bugaboos image named "Lion Topper." I haven't decided on the inside sentiment yet, but am thinking it will be something like "Hope your special day is Grrrrreat!" Also since the sketch includes lots of white space, I'm entering this in the Cute Card Thursday CAS challenge.

For my final entry into the June Sketch Challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH). I created a background with  some wonderful patterned paper and gold heart embossed ribbon from JoAnne's plus pink vellum from my stash that would showcase the LSOH Think Pink image (you can find it here lshdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/10/free-think-pink-digi-stamp.html)
PS Little Scraps of Heaven (littlescrapsofheavendesigns.com ) is having a sale through the end of June. Made a card that features a free digi image called "Wine Chef" from freedeariedollsdigistamps.blogspot.com for a few current challenges (Simon Says Monday Challenge- Food and/or Drink and SumMoreFun Challenge- I used a few of the  colors on the mood board and the wine glasses mirror the glassware on the inspiration photo.) A freebie sentiment from lovesvg.com was used on the inside of the card. I stamped the background with one of my favorite, and old, SU stamp set named Decorative Grapes, and added muted wine colored stripes using an old stencil from Printworks.

For  my final entry into the current Bugaboo color challenge, I used an old birdhouse stamp (that I removed from the wood a while ago. I think it is a Stampendous image), a Northwoods twig wreath, and made a tag by reducing a sentiment from a Beccy's Place digi set named "Just Desserts." Colored the birdhouses to reflect a few of the colors on the inspiration photo.  This is also my final entry into this months "Round & Round" challenge at Power Poppy.

Sunshine and Sweetness

A friend recently gave me two  6x6 paper packets of fun summer prints. I used one of them to make this card that features a great image from Little Scraps of Heaven (LCOH). Was fun to color the little bear and beach ball with my Spectrum Noir markers. To match the Sketch in the current LSOH challenge I placed a beach border from Whimsie Doodles across the center of the page, added a rectangle of vellum behind the beach bear plus cut a few clouds out of white paper scraps to match the sketch. The final touch was to add the sentiment, a freebie from www.winkwinkink.com

Decided to make another card for the current Paper Smooches Color Challenge. This time I used their freebie image of a sweet smiling sun and a matching sentiment (another freebie, I just changed the font color to dark yellow-orange.)  The other colors I used on my card were sunshine, orange red and azure. Used another sheet of patterned paper from a 6x6 paper booklet to help the card go together quickly. Easy Peasy!
The sunglasses are from-clipartpanda.com/clipart_images/black-eye-glasses-clip-art-2368147
I changed the color to blue by copying the image, pasting into a Word document, selecting 'format' then 'color'. There are many color options, but I chose blue to match the color challenge.)

I recently won a Cute Card Thursday challenge and had fun picking out images from a company that is new to me. Named Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez, the images are just that- CUTE! And there are many cute freebies available on the site, too. I used one of these freebies to make a baby card that I need this weekend. Haven't made a shape card for a while, so created a template for an A2 sized card. The little tag is from Lili of the Valley's sentiment tag set and the inside sentiment is a free digi from papercraftsmag.com/content_downloads/WelcomeBaby.jpg

(I gave the little beauty a crown because she  just needed some bling!)

Totally Digis

Some of the first digi's I ever used were from Tiddly Inks. I love their cute, funny and often heartwarming images. This image, named "Wryn and her Dad" was a surprise gift that popped up in my email the first of April as a thank-you for placing an order in March. (Something new that they started and I love the surprise… and this adorable image!) For the current color challenge at Tiddly Inks I printed out this image, colored, fussy-cut and then perched the trio on a sand dune to watch a beautiful sunrise. (The beautiful scene is an upcycled calendar page. I cut the bottom part of the scene apart to create the sand dune, which I then attached with foam tape to add some depth. Added another stip of sand dune along the bottom left corner mainly because I love the spikey grass. So, I fussy cut the grass along that small strip so that it would add a bit of interest to the sentiment (you might not be able to see it, but the whispy grass spikes overlap the sentiment. (Oh and the sentiment is a freebie from www.winkwinkink.com )

Bugaboo Stamps is another one of my go-to digi companies and this Unicorn image is one of my favs from them. Perched the cutie on the circle that contains beautiful shades of blue and aqua ocean waves, to fit into the current Bug's Color Challenge.  I printed the Unicorns mane and tail on a sheet of swirly iridescent stationary before fussy cutting and attaching them to the Uni. I really like the way that the rainbow created with Tombow markers shimmers (tried to show that in the close-up but would only show up with the flash… which also obliterates some of the mane. So… you'll have to trust me that it is beautiful!
The sentiments are from uselesstrinkets.wordpress.com/freebies however I couldn’t get the freebies to print off clearly, so I retyped them in the font Kristin ITC (just wanted to make sure I credit the source for the fun sayings!)

I just re-discovered another digi company that has so many great images… and fun freebies. It's named Paper Smooches. I fell in love with this adorable freebie and decided that I had to make a card for their current color challenge (I used the two colors, sunscreen and orange red). The sentiment is handwritten. And I added little fussy cut leaves to provide some color and texture. So fun!

This little cookie mouse freebie from Gerda Steiner is so cute. I paired it with sentiments from Tiddy Inks digi set "Cookie Bugg and Extras." Am entering the card into Gerda Steiners monthly "Share your Designs Challenge" plus other challenges require patterned paper, a Sketch, spots or dots and food or drink. (I did tilt the tag in the opposite direction of the sketch in order to tuck the first part of the sentiment under his cute ear. Hmmm,  I just used the words cute and mouse in the same sentence. That is something I never thought I'd do!)
