myasperations 10-28-22

I haven’t had much time during the last few chaotic weeks at the office to do much stamping. However, I did take some time last night to make this card with the adorable freebie digi that artist Beccy Muir provided with the October Challenge at Beccy’s Place. (I added a pic of the sweet freebie, protected with a WM added. To get your own copy, and to nab a wonderful patterned paper with spooky kitties, stop by Beccy's challenge HERE.) I remembered making an interactive card at a class over 20 years ago that involved pulling a rabbit out of a hat. THAT that was the inspiration for this sweet card. (When I have some time I’ll make a tutorial, but for now, just enjoy the little cutie!)
I did take several photos of the card to show the cats movements. The final “pose” occurred when I accidentally bumped the feline and tipped him to one side of the pumpkin shell. Don’t you think the head tilt makes him even cuter? So fun!

myasperations 10-20-22

This month’s Sheepski Designs FB Challenge theme is “Happy Birthday.” I had fun making two cards using Artist Andrea Norris’ wonderful digis.

The first one features one of Andrea’s new digis “Twiggy” and a color scheme in deep rich autumn shades. And even though I am usually ”tech impaired” I was able to create this scene by layering Twiggy atop an Autumn background from The Paper Shelter using a free Word program named Paint.net (find the link in my supplies list.) I posted a picture of the layered scene that I was able to just copy, size, and print off. (Note-I added a WM to this picture to respect both companies' copyrights.  The original I saved to my laptop so I can make similar cards in the future has no WM. Easy Peasy!) I printed off another copy of just Twiggy, which I colored, fussy-cut, and adhered to the scene with a few small strips of foam tape. Some golden accents add some bling to the card. So fun!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including The Paper Shelter “Halloween Colors” (although not a Halloween theme, this card does picture many of the colors of the season including orange, rust, and green), and Path Of Positivity Challenge “Celebrate Something Special about Your Favourite Season” (this image represents some of my favorite things about Autumn: the beauty of the changing seasons here where I live in Wisconsin USA; the brisk weather (this little guy is dressed for the season with boots, a cap, and all that warm fur... um... I mean hair); and playful fun (a person never outgrows the pure joy of a good ol’ tree swing)!

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

The second birthday card features a pastel color scheme to highlight Andrea’s sweet digi named “Dragon Fly.” The base of the card is a Faux Stepper Card, which is surprisingly easy to make (find the link to the tutorial in the supplies list.)  I love the translucent beauty of vellum, so used that to add some depth to one of the layers. Fussy-cutting, a few vellum scraps, and a sprinkling of bling finish off the card.

I love the cute and often whimsical feeling of artist Wendy Burns digis, and this adorable little witch is a perfect example of her talent! I added Halloween colors, stars, bling, and a few freebie sentiments to bring the card to life. (However, when looking for the link to the inside sentiment, I discovered that the one I used appears to no longer be available, but I did provide a link- and pic- of one that I like even better from the same source. So… win-win!)

myasperations 10-16-22

I really missed visits to my doctor, dentist, and stylist during COVID. (And my teeth, hair, and aging bones missed them too!)  After businesses were allowed to open for business about this time two years ago, I wanted to thank my wonderful dentist and stylist (and their staff ) to show them how much I missed them. Since people were still warned against getting together  for the  holidays I brought them a basket of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas cards. They were so thrilled, that did it again last year… and plan to again this year.  This post includes a few of the cards for this year’s gift. The first one includes a SU set that I’ve had for a few decades. I made a Tunnel Card a while ago, and created this card using just the inside of the card. I really like the way it turned out.
Supplies:

·   Scarecrow, cornstalks, and pumpkins made with a retired Stampin’ Up! set.

·   Tunnel Card Tutorial- Jennifer McGuire’s Tutorial can be found HERE

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   All other items from my stash.

Back when I was scrapbooking. I discovered an online treasure of wonderful digis named “Little Scraps of Heaven.” Artist/Owner Tricia Veinot Moore is transitioning to a new shop, so everything at her current shop is on sale. Most items (and sets) are just $1.50.  This little raccoon is just $1.00. I decided to feature him on a fall birthday card to include in this year’s gift basket. I haven’t entered the current Butterfly Challenge, so used an upcycled card front and markers to feature three of the colors Canary Yellow, Chili Red, and Cyan, plus one of the themes-Butterfly (several of them flutter across the front and inside of the card.
Supplies:

·   Digi- Little Scraps of Heaven (Harvest Raccoon)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments- Simply Cards & Papercrafts Magazine 171-Bonus (No longer available)

·   All other items from my stash.

A friend gifted me with this wonderful Rudolph brad a while ago, and it was fun to make this fun card with it! And, the great news, is that it went together very quickly with items from my stash. I’m entering this card into several challenges including The Sisterhood of CraftersOne for the Guys” (Ummm “my guy” aka husband, chuckled about the inside sentiment when I shared this card, mainly because he’s watched me try to dress up the tree with tinsel. Plus…. What guy doesn’t recognize, if not appreciate, Rudolp’s bravery?!)

myasperations 10-15-22

It’s the 15th of the month, so I get to share my DT card for the challenge at QKR Stampede. Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself?
For this simple card, I used a sweet digi named "Bunch of Chicks" with a soft pastel color scheme. I added color to the two peeps in the front since they take primary roles on this card.  I printed off an extra copy of the little chick in the center, colored it, and perched the little cutie on the inside sentiment, popping him out a bit with a square foam tape. I embellished the sentiments with puffy heart stickers.
Supplies:
·   Digi- Eureka Digital Stamp (Bunch of Chicks) Also available in unmounted or cling-mounted

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, decorative chalks, and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments- Little Scraps of Heaven Digi Set (Retired)

·   Puffy Heart Stickers- Stickos

·   All other items from my stash.

Power Poppy’s current challenge theme is all about Fruits and Vegetables. For this card I used the image from “Maize for Days” digi set, altering the digi a bit by cropping the top and left side, then colored with several different mediums. I decided to use a pale golden and brown color scheme on the card, except for the wonderful deep colors of the kernels.
Supplies:

·   Digi and Front Sentiment- Power Poppy Digi Set (Maize for Days)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, white colored pencil, and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Inside Sentiment- “Happy Fall” from Power Poppy Digital Set (Autumns Opulence)

I enjoy layering digis over backgrounds using a free Word program named Paint.net (find link in my supplies list.) Even though I am considered by many to be” tech impaired” I was able to put this scene together using digis (jpgs and pngs) from two different companies… and love the result! I posted a picture of the layered scene that I was able to just copy, size, and print off. (Note-I added a WM to this picture to respect the company's copyrights.  The original that I saved to my laptop so that I can make similar cards in the future has no WM. Easy Peasy!)
