myasperations 4-30-23

This little bunny from artist Conie Fong is so sweet that this Z-fold card was such a joy to pull together. I created embellishments by printing off a handful of the little flowers, colored,  and fussy-cut them before adhering them around his feet, and to the sentiments.
Supplies:
·   Digi- Conie Fong (Bunny with Egg)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Instructions for a Z-fold card can be found HERE.

·   Front Sentiment- Eureka Digital Stamp (Happy Easter) Website currently down for maintenance

·   Inside Sentiment-Freebie from Desert Diva (Some Bunny Loves You)

·   All other items from my stash.

This busy baker is looking pretty festive as he prepares for the holidays. Artist Beccy Muir names all of her characters… and this cutie is Elwyn. Such a magical name for the wee lad. And looking at that pan of treats makes me long for a warm gingerbread cookie. Yummmm!

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

As I created this card for the current Butterfly Challenge I loved how simple it was to make this fun fold, called a Standing Pop-up Card. One reason I enjoy this challenge is the challenge host provides easy-to-follow instructions for the optional fold. She also provides some wonderful prizes and is a sweet person. This card includes all four of the required colors (Straw, Sea Green, Salmon, and Skye Blue) plus all three themes (Standing Pop Up fold, stripes, and butterfly.)
I’m also entering this card into several other challenges including Outlawz Sunday Song and Rhyme (the beautiful roses and butterflies on my card reflect the lines “May is pretty” and also “Spring out flowers.”)

myasperations 4-28-23a

My first card for this post was created for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Group {BYSHC} Spring into Christmas 2023 Linky Party. I found this great group on FB a few years ago and have entered their linky parties whenever I can. They offer wonderful prizes!  This sweet image was created by artist Rachelle Anne Miller, a sponsor of the current Linky Party.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Double D’s Things that Fly (this sweet scene includes two little birds, one in the tree at the left, the other is half in “shadow” at the bottom of the card.)
Supplies:

·   Digi- Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios (Woodland Snowman)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Yellow and blue decorative chalks, a homemade cloud template, and a makeup sponge.

·   Front Sentiment “Warmest Wishes”- from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Christmas Cardinals)

·   Inside Sentiment- “Wishing You...“ (Freebie from Birdscards.com can be found HERE)

This card was inspired by the current challenge at the Wecraftcards Forum, where the requirements are “create a slim line card with colors inspired by a giraffe. While creating cards for the BYSHC Spring into Christmas Linky Party, I was looking through images I could use. When I came upon this pudgy gingerbread man inspiration hit. Printed on kraft brown, I had fun framing the little guy with yellow vellum and other giraffe-y colors. I remembered I had a squeeze bottle of 3-D white paint that adds the wonderful look and feel of frosting… and layered it on. The only color that doesn’t really fit into the theme is the red of his nose and button. But, no respectable gingerguy would consider himself festively attired unless he accessorized his ensemble with a few red-hot candies! They add a few shouts of bright color, plus provide smooth and shiny texture (thanks to Glossy Accents.)

Supplies:
·   Digi- Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Gingerbread Season)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Inside sentiment- “Merriest Wishes” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Cozy Christmas)

·   Ornate paper frame from my scrapbook stash (trimmed and overlapped corners to fit.)

·   Scribbles Shiny White 3-D Paint- JoAnne’s Fabrics

·   Stickles, Glossy Accents, and other items from my stash.

I was a random winner a short time ago at an All Dressed Up Stamps challenge and immediately picked this sweet image as one of my free digis. I have two sisters, and we loved playing “dress up” during our childhood… and at a different level as we shared clothes during our high school years. They are still two of my best friends! I usually prefer bright or rich colors but decided to try a pastel color scheme on this card so that I could enter it into the current Colorful Options Challenge. And I like the way it turned out.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including the Path Of Positivity‘s “Inspired by Literature” Path Of Positivity Challenge- Inspired by Literature (Since these three little girls, all dressed in festive attire,  look like they enjoy being entertainers I remembered how much I love the Little Women books. I remembered that one of them centered on Christmas, and a little research showed that was the first book of the Little Women series. I think I might need to read the series again. In truth, I will listen to audio recordings of the books as I while away the hours in my craft room, which is my favorite way to multitask!)
Supplies:

·   Digi- All Dressed Up Stamps (3 Little Christmas Girls)

·   Colored with Decorative Chalks, Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” Sheet Music found HERE

·   Inside Sentiment- “Christmas Music Makes Me Happy” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Here Comes Christmas)

When I saw that the current Scribbles Designs Challenge theme is “Amphibians” I knew that I just had to put their amorous frog named Carl to work!  And, since I wanted to make a card for the current Christmas Craft Creations challenge with the theme “Humour”, pairing suave Carl with a fun sentiment about mistletoe was a perfect fit. Because, we all know what can happen if you kiss a frog, right?! (And, the inside mistletoe sentiment is FREE!! Find the link below)

A few months ago a friend gave me a gift card for Sweet November Stamps and this digi was the top of my wish list! I was so excited to add this cute couple to my digi collection but was also a bit intimidated to try to bring it to life. A sample card on the Sweet November website provided inspiration you’ll see reflected in my card, but I opted to color Blitzen with shades of brown. The result didn’t thrill me… so I play around with my white gel pen a bit, adding some highlights that I planned to mute with light brown marker strokes. However, before I did that, I stopped to ponder Blitzen’s gentle face, and the tender way he nuzzled into his little friend's hug. Suddenly,  tears came to my eyes. The white “fur” aged the guy, and reminded me of my favorite dog, a black lab mix named “Jinx.”  During the 14 years, she was part of our family, she brought so much love and laughter into our lives. The last few years, her eyes, ears, and muzzle sparkled with silver grey which made her look gentle, and wise beyond her years. She’s been gone nearly 20 years, but my hubby and I talk about her often. We joke about her joyfully romping with- and teasing- all the pets we’ve loved throughout our lives… and we miss her. This tender scene makes me imagine this little elf cherishes time spent with his furry friend, just as we did with our ever-playful Jinx.

I’m entering this card into several challenges including the Path Of Positivity‘s “Inspired by Literature” (I’ve always loved “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement Clarke. I checked the web to find the author's name, and found a book with unbelievable illustrations for the story, by artist Jan Brett. It is magical! And includes reindeer that are light tan/whitish. A few googled photos showed that this is their normal coloring. So… I learned something new and maybe you did now, too?) and Park Hopping-My Happy Place (the little elf makes me think of “It’s a Small World After all…” the iconic ride at Disneyland!)
Supplies:
·   Digi- Sweet November Stamps (Hugs for Blitzen)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

·   Front Sentiment “Sending Love this Christmas” from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Gingerbread Season)

·   Inside Sentiment- Noel Heart Banner  (CraftWorld-Simply cards) no longer available

·   Sheer red dotted Swiss ribbon- JoAnne’s

·   All other items from my stash.

My final card for this posting is a beauty that I created to enter into several challenges: the herringbone background allowed me to use up a pile of scraps (snippets) to make a backdrop for the festive ice skate and poinsettia digi from Beccy’s Place. And the card was inspired by a sketch from the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Group {BYSHC} I found this great group on FB a few years ago and, although I don’t use sketches very often, I do like the ones that they offer. And I LOVE that they host Linky parties several times a year. (I don’t think I’ve missed one of their linky parties since I joined. They offer lots of wonderful prizes and the sponsor is so gracious and kind!)

Supplies:

·   Herringbone background- made with Paper Scraps (instructions HERE)

·   Ice Skates Digi- Beccy’s Place Digital Set (Peace and Joy)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
