Happy [craft room] Camper 3

Bugaboo Stamps is celebrating their 8th Birthday this week with daily challenges. Day 4 is a Bingo Challenge. I created my card using the center column- down (cupcake, bugaboo image, bold colors.) The inside sentiment is from a Beccy's Place digi set named "Feathered Friends."  PS I love making these fun backgrounds with strips of patterned paper. You can find the instructions here stampinpretty.com/2016/01/strips-of-love-blossoms-valentine-card.html
I'm also entering this card into a few other challenges including Simon Says Monday challenge, Birds of a Feather. But first, I had to google and make sure that a penguin is classified as a bird. It is. Also entering into the SumMoreFun Challenge since the colors on the card are on the mood board (almost EVERY color is in this card!) Plus, I added a large dose of sprinkles to the cupcake with markers to match the mood board sprinkles. Yummy!

I was thrilled to win several digi sets during Beccy's Place 5th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge during November. This is one of those sets. It's named "Disco Fever" and I am finally getting time to use it. (I love playing with new sets!) The details on the dancin' diva image makes me giggle. Notice the wonderful 60's era metal belt? The bangles and hoop earrings? The arm flaps? And it appears that she might have burned her bra during anti-war demonstrations and never replaced it. Ha!
Used some wonderful 60ish looking patterned paper from my stash and put my Spectrum Noir pens to work. Plus, you can't see them in the photo, but I did add a few metallic highlights on the jewelry and belt with a sparkly silver gel pen. Realized that I needed to provide a space for the sender to write a greeting, signature and possibly notes. So added a scrap of vellum that allows writing space plus allows the patterned paper to show through. And, the vellum is attached with the two short sentiments. (Also, after taking the photo I realized that I need to add more coloring to her skin. Haven't yet mastered skin tones with my alcohol markers and even colored pencils are challenging as skin often looks blotchy. So… used the light touch that chalks can provide, but need to make that light touch a bit darker. And… she is rockin' the blue eyeshadow but definitely needs some blusher or in the 60s it was called rouge!)
Lastly, this is a Tri-fold shutter card (tutorial is here- qbeesquest.blogspot.com/2013/05/secret-garden-tri-fold-shutter-card.html

I just love this adorable little fairy digi (from a Craftin' Desert Diva digi set named "Magical Day"). Crafted this card for the current Craftin' Desert Diva Challenge on FB to match their Winter mood board. Stamped the snowflake wreath on vellum and embossed it with silver peart EP to give it a frosty look. (Am unsure who made the stamp. Removed the rubber from the wood years ago.)  To get a closer match to the mood board, I  stamped layers of trees along the bottom of the card, stamping the image a few times before re-inking to get the foggy/frosty effect. Had planned to just attach the vellum right to the card front, but the flakes didn't stay out enough on the grey parchment paper. Thought maybe if I cut the center of the wreath out, and had the little miss coming out through the flakes it would help. Didn't work. Finally, decided to cut an oval of dark grey cardstock to slip beneath the snowflake wreath.  It worked! Finished the card with a sprinkling of glitter and sentiment from a Beccy's Place digi set named "Narcissus."

  5. What a fabulously colourful birthday card Kathy, I love it! The little penguin standing behind the cupcake is adorable and you did a great job on the colouring. The "sprinkles" are a nice touch.
Your tri-fold shutter card is awesome... or should I say groovy?! I love the patterned papers you used, they coordinate perfectly with the image. I was pleased that you noticed all the little details on this one... she's one of my favourites.
The fairy card you made is beautiful, the image is just lovely. I really like the addition of the grey oval in the background, I think it lifts the wreath and really makes it stand out. Lovely.
    Cheers,
    Beccy
