Happy [craft room] Camper 2

The Day 3 challenge at Bugaboo Stamps for their 8th Birthday celebration is to make anything but a card. I used an image that I won in a recent Bugaboo challenge. I love this sweet little cowboy which I added to a gift tag.
When I was looking for items to help add a country feeling to the card, I had such fun digging through my stash. Found the wonderful fabric that I used on the tag and also to attach it to the accordion-fold topped bag.  (The fabric was from my mom's stash. She was a quilter and so she left her crafty daughters boxes full of scraps. I love finding uses for them... and she would have LOVED this tag because of the cute little guy. I also found a bit of tan cord that looks like rope. Wrapped it around the top of my glue bottle a few times then secured the loops with a knot to make the buckaroo a little lasso rope. The final touch was that I added a bit of pattern to his neck scarf with my white gel pen to make it look more "authentic." So cute... um... I mean so tough and masculine!

A new friend gave me a gift certificate for Whimsy Stamps for Christmas. This is one of the images that I picked and was so fun to make my first card with the sweet little penguin. This was my first ever "Floating split front card" using a tutorial found here Was actually pretty easy to make… and I love the results!
Also, the balloons are drawn with a fine-line permanent marker on clear document folders that come in a pack of assorted colors. You can find them in office supply stores. They are often cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  They are also easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors. (It took a little experimentation to find a way to adhere the balloons to the card since double-sided tape and other adhesives will show through. I learned that, when I cut out the balloons, I can cut small flaps on the top and side of the balloons to help adhere them. I then lay the balloons on the card front, lightly sketch and then cut small slits on the card front, slide the flaps through there slits and then tape them down on the back of the card.  A little bit of work, but I like that the balloons look real with a translucent sheen.)
