Reason to Celebrate

For this weeks QKR Stampede Challenge, my DT card features a Eureka Stamp image [ES-digi37801-Declaration of Independence.]  You can find it HERE. I used scraps of background papers [starry night sky, patriotic stars and sheet music], the front from a broken earring [from my mom's jewelry stash] and white photo corners.  The inside sentiment is computer generated with a font named Asiyah Script  It matches the font on the digi pretty well, doncha think?

I love this sweet image from All Dressed Up [ADU]named Dino, and did a bit of paper piecing with some scraps of pinstripe blue paper to turn it into a card that fits into ADU's current theme "For the Boys."  I printed the digi onto kraft brown paper and adding a little color and shading with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiments are computer generated.

Power Poppy's current Creative Confetti Challenge is named "Just Color "  and the requirement is to color with our favorite medium.  These days my favs are Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen.  I printed a family of gingerbread peoples onto kraft brown paper and got to work bringing them to life with color. Aren't they adorable? The little striped frames are from my scrapbook stash and the sentiments are computer generated.

Pups and Bears

I love serving as a "Contributor" for Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place blog. Every few months I receive an "assignment" using a new digi set and can decide if I want to accept the assignment or pass on it.  This assignment was to use the adorable set named "Paw Prints" to create several items.  If you visit Beccy's Place you can see all the items I created. [HERE and you can find the digi set  HERE.]  I provided details for two of my creations on yesterday post, and am sharing the final two on my this post.
This sweet  Golden Retriever was colored with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. I had fun using scraps to make the party hats and stars that match the colors in the stripes on the background paper and reflect the two sentiments, which are from the digi set.

Scottish Terriers always make me smile. They seem to have such unique personalities- reserved, almost haughty, with a little bounce to their step. I did a bit of research and several sites called them proud, extremely sensitive, and easily insulted. What an intriguing combination. For this jaunty little guy, I dressed him up with a scrap of tartan plaid that I snipped from the wrapping paper that I used a background on the card. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiments are both from the set.

I have more than a dozen old roller stamps from Stampin' Up [SU] that I never used until I found instructions on Pinterest for converting them into border stamps.  It is so much easier to get a nice image when I can use them with my MISTI. Am slowly converting them over to border stamps. This is the latest one I've converted… and it’s the first time it's been used at all. I love the cute little bears, and the scene reminds me of a song that I used to teach pre-schoolers when I worked at a college nursery school. I colored the images with chalks plus Tombow watercolor markers for shading and small areas. I liked the way the little hearts on the bears clothing is reflected in the background paper. So, I stamped the sentiment [a retired SU stamp] onto vellum so that the little hearts can shine through. Am entering this card into a few challenges, including the Monday Simon Says challenge "Transport it" [one of the bears is transporting a beehive to the picnic. Although, I think that might be a dangerous job… especially without protective gear!] and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Travel/Vacation" [the bears look like they are at a family reunion. I come from a long line of family reunion goers… and always loved that the annual family reunion meant a few days of traveling and all the excitement that came with the trip… and especially the idea that we'd get to eat junk food from gas stations. I'm not sure why, but it always seemed that ice cream, corn dogs and bagged candy tastes best when eaten in a moving vehicle. Maybe it is because my five siblings were usually eyeing my treats so they seemed like real treasures ] and Double D's Pick a Pattern challenge [the stripes and hearts in the background go so perfectly with this image… with all the cute little hearts. I even stamped the sentiment on vellum to allow even more of the background pattern to show. So fun.]

Paws and Pears

I enjoyed being a Guest DT for Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place last year, so was thrilled when she invited me back to be part of her new concept, inviting several of us to be "Contributors" on her site. Every few months I receive a new "assignment" using a new digi set and can decide if I want to accept the assignment or pass on it. [Cue the "Mission Impossible" theme song.]  This assignment was to use the adorable set named "Paw Prints" to create several items. If you visit Beccy's Place you can see all the items I created. [HERE and you can find the digi set  HERE.]  I'll be providing details for two of my creations on this post, and two more on my next post.

This gorgeous Golden Retriever was colored with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. I made this card for a friend whose Golden, named Siri, is getting a little "grey" so added more white highlights than normal… especially on her muzzle. I love the look of this pretty background paper with Siri's golden coat. The sentiment is also from the digi set.

I made a gift bag by positioning four images of the Golden Retriever on a sheet of tan parchment copy paper. [I used a tutorial I found HERE to fold the bag. First, I used a blank sheet of white copy paper to wrap a few books until I determined the correct size and thickness that would work with the copy paper. Once I had figured that out, I sized and positioned the pup image, flipping the image to create a bit more interest on the front and back of the gift bag before printing it on tan parchment. I added just a bit of color with Spectrum Noir markers and chalks before using the tutorial and a bit of transparent tape to create the gift bag.] I made the gift tag with scraps, using a heart punch and small circle die to create the paw print. The final touches were to add patterned ribbon and one cute puffy heart sticker. So fun. AM entering this card into several challenges including Simon Says Monday Challenge, Transport It [because this gift bag was used to transport a gift of handmade cards to a dear friend.]

Here is another card created with one of my beautiful PSX stamps that fill an entire card front. This one features a yummy pear with filigree borders, some lettering, and one cute little bee. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen before adding a cute little bee from All Night Media. I colored and fussy cut the little bee before attaching it to one of the pears with a foam adhesive dot.  A layer of pale green gingham paper and dark green mulberry paper provided the perfect addition of texture, pattern, and color to my card.

Cuteness Overload

I've always loved this adorable Unicorn digi from Bugaboo so just had to make a card with him for Bugaboo's current BINGO challenge. I colored the image with light pastel Spectrum Noir markers-grey for shading plus rainbow colors in his main and tail. When dry, I used a Sakura Gelly Roll white marker to add texture to his mane and tail. I sponged light pastel inks onto a rainbow stencil that I had cut from a scrap of acetate with an Exacto knife. The sentiments are computer generated, and the buttons are from my stash. The card fit into the right Bingo column- Button, Bugaboo digi and sentiment.

I'm glad that I have several PSX stamps in my collection as they make such beautiful cards, especially their floral stamps. I had fun pairing the lovely purples in these lilacs', cardstock and mulberry paper with the bold orange of the Monarch butterfly.  The flowers and insect are both colored with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. Am entering this card into several challenges including the current Butterfly challenge where my card meets one of the colors required [granny smith green] and one of the themes [includes a butterfly.]

My final card for this post features an adorable image named "Girl Dancing" from Kinda Cute by Patricia Alveraz. I can almost hear the little cutie's giggles as she teases her daddy. Doesn't she look like she is ready to dance with her Hero? I colored the little dancer with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiments are computer generated and the background vintage music sheet is a freebie from HERE.

Friday Fun

This week's sponsor at the Colour Crazy Challenge is Oddball Art.  For my DT card I chose an adorable image named, "Lazy Louise and Bathtime Bubble Friends." You can find it HERE. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. I added some depth to the bubbles with a bit of Nuvo Crystal Drops [Clear Morning Dew.] The inside sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations. [It appears to not be retired. But this blog offers many wonderful free sentiments and other digis. Check it out HERE.]

For this weeks QKR Stampede Challenge, my DT card features a Eureka Stamp image [ES-digi8805 Big n Little Cat Digital Stamp] and QKR Sentiment [Q-digi13508 Honest Digital Stamp.]  You can find them HERE. I used Spectrum Noir makers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen to color the sweet bear.  This sweet image seemed like a perfect match for the fun sentiment. Doesn't that little kitten look like fearful about asking the recipient of the card about his/her age? Such a cute little fur face.

My final card for this posting went together really quickly with an upcycled beach scene from a card, a cocktail sticker on a scrap of blue and white paper, and alphabet stickers from my scrapbook supplies. I had fun creating a "math problem" on the front of the card. Basically "[Beach chairs] + [a cocktail] = " [open the card] "Fun Times!" I created the + and = signs by cutting up a few alphabet stickers that I seldom use [I have a ton of z's and x's.]

Bee Kind

For my DT card this week with Imagine That Digi Stamps I used a sweet image, sentiment and little bees drawn from two digi sets named Bee Girl and Bee Boy.  [You can find them HERE]. Plus, designer/owner of Imagine That, Kris Breach, provides her DTs with a coupon code that allows any friends a discount on their next digi or der. If you stop by the shop I know that you'll find lots of digis that you'll want to add to your collection.
I colored Bee Girl with Spectrum Noir and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen, fussy cut her out and set her aside. I next created the background by punching hexagons with a Fiskars punch to create a honeycomb pattern. When I laid the Bee Girl image atop the honeycomb she was a little overwhelmed with the background so I added a piece of yellow vellum to separate the two. Finished the card off with the sentiment from a digi set and perched a little bee digi from one of the digi sets top the sentiment. For the inside of the card, I used another sentiment from the set, another little bee, and scraps of paper and vellum.

Had fun making this simple card scraps of yellow papers and a free sunrays template that I found HERE. I sketched a simple sunglass frame onto a scrap of colored cardstock, cutting the lenses out with an Exacto blade. I made the black lenses with a scrap of black cardstock. Adhering it to the backside of the sunglass frames and trimmed the excess with a sharp scissors. The sentiments are computer generated using a fun font named Jokerman.

Di’s Digi Stamps Include a Sun

Wanted to make a card to enter into Power Poppy's new Challenge "Background Check." The instructions noted- "It's as simple as making sure your background really sings and helps give depth and dimension to your stamped image. We want to break out of our background boxes and make sure the color we add is for a reason and has a purpose in bringing our image to life!" I used a bold striped paper for the background in a pretty light blue which reflects, and provides a nice base, for the stripes on the beach bag. I created the bag with a scrap of paper, sketched the handles on black cardstock and cut them out. Punched two circles from scraps of black paper and folded them on the top of the bag to make bases for the handles, attaching these to the bag with silver brads, then slid the handles in place and taped them in place on the underside of the bag. Wanted to add a pair of sunglasses, but the ones made for the other card on this post didn't seem like quite the right shape. So I sketched a bit more feminine shaped frames onto a scrap of red cardstock, cutting the lenses out with an Exacto blade. I colored the lenses to be a translucent grey by lightly sponging black ink onto a scrap of vellum, cutting two small rectangles that I adhered to the underside of the glasses and then carefully trimmed the excess with a sharp scissors. Sketched a "temple" [I had to google to find the name of this part of the sunglasses that securely hold the glasses on the wearers head] on a scrap of the red paper, adhering it to the inside of the sunglasses and then attaching the sunglasses to the bag. [The other temple would be slid inside the bag, holding the sunglasses in place. Needless to say, I didn't make that one!]  The final touch was the sentiment, which is computer generated. Am entering the card into several other challenges that require patterns, summer or beach themes as this card fits all of those requirements. I do want to explain why I am entering the card into the Simon Says Monday Challenge, "Transport It."  I usually think of vehicles when discussing transporting things. However, a beach bag is essential when transporting sunscreen, lip balm and other items for a day in the sun.
