Roses and Butterflies

It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. . Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! (pennyschallenges.blogspot.com) This week my card is for my MIL. She is 96 years young, in an assisted living facility, and enjoys getting cards that brighten up her room. So, I love sending them. For this card, I used a digi from Bugaboo named "Roses and Butterflies." [You can find it here- bugaboostamps.com] I printed off a few extra butterflies, colored them with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and a few touches of white gel pen, then fussy cut them. Decided to keep this card very simple, so that the three colored butterflies would take center stage. The sentiment on the front is a freebie from www.birdscards.com  and the inside sentiment is from my files (I've been collecting sayings since I was in high school  in the mid 70's and didn't know anything about copyright issues, so have no idea where I found this. I've web researched so I could cite the source, with no luck. If anyone knows the author, please let me know. Thanks.)

Cute Card Thursday- #546 Anything Goes                      (cutecardthursday.blogspot.com)

Wanted to make one more card for the current Calling all Sistahs challenge, using another one of the free Zenspirations digis  [zenspirations.com/blog/a-grateful-heart-html] This digi really reflects the mood board wreath of ribbons. Because I printed this card off to make a single layer card, complete with the I wonderful "created by" template, I used colored pencils that wouldn't bleed through.  After coloring it in, and sketching clouds on the background, it still needed something. So I cut an oval from blue vellum that I attached with clear photo corners. Will be sending this to my sister-in-law who recently had surgery for breast cancer, so I colored all the ribbons a pretty shade of pink. Am so thankful that she is doing well. She is a sweetheart. The inside sentiment is from a Whimsy stamp digi set named "Vintage Sentiments".

The current Bugaboo challenge is named "Make Us Smile".  I love making humorous cards, so had fun working on this one. The sentiment [front and inside] are computer generated, the images are from Bugaboo- Deacon Peeker and Comfy Chair. Now… to figure out which one of my "old" friends will appreciate this card and not plot on how to get even.
