Beautiful Leaves

I love the monthly stamping opportunity called "Twofer Card Challenge." The goal of this fun challenge is to make two cards with two different designs for two different occassions using the same stamps and/or dies. This month the challenge is "Leaves."  I used a wood mount stamp from Embossing Arts and a technique called Joseph's Coat [found on Pinterest] to make the fall leaves card. I added a braided edging to the card [pattern here- www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XDamx9R_uw&t=362s]
Created a sentiment strip for the inside of the card using one of the sentiments form the Power Poppy set named "Autumn's Opulence." Added another sentiment from that digi set to the front of the card an finished it off with some bling.
For the second card, I cleaned the stamp  well then used a few green watercolor markers to scribble blocks of color onto the stamp [I used Marvy's large brush markers but any brand should work.] I spritzed the inked stamp with water then pounced it on white card stock. I fussy-cut the leaf and set aside. Used my Darice Embossing folder named "Essential Cross," a scrap of elegant swirls vellum and Kraft brown photo corners to finish the card. With a Kraft brown base, the cross really stands out on the vellum. No sentiment is needed because the embossed image says it all.

The Wednesday Challenge at wecraftcards is to create a card that reminds us of September.
One of the options provided was honey. I immediately thought of an adorable free digi
image named "Mason Jar" from Little Scraps of Heaven. (You can find the image here,
http://lshdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/09/mason-jar-digi-stamp.html) I printed the jar on acetate and
added "honey" with yellow vellum. A computer generated sentiment was also printed on
vellum. Paper pieced the fabric plus ribbon and bow on the lid, popping the bow out with a
bit of mounting foam. Used an old  bee stamp from All Night Media. A bit of bling and twine
finish the card. Decorated the inside with a computer generated sentiment, another bee, and
made some "honeycomb" by wiping a golden yellow ink pad across a square of bubble wrap
and then pressed a scrap of white cardstock over it, rubbing to transfer the ink. How fun is
that? Am entering this into a few challenges including Sketch Saturday which I followed
pretty closely and Bugaboo Bingo, first column- gem [I added several small diamonds to
resemble bubbles], twine and sentiment.

The Monday  Challenge at wecraftcards is to create a card with a pull tab. I found
instructions on Pinterest and got to work. Used two freebie images from Paper Smooches, a
cute little bee and matching sentiment. I hand lettered the inside sentiment, trying to match
the font on the front. Used flowered background paper for both levels of the front of the card
and on the inside sentiment.

  1. These are both so elegant, Kathy! I love the border edging and wide frame of your Happy Fall card and the richly colored leaves on black! I also love how you used just one leaf, beautifully colored, to embellish that stunning embossed cross! The background is graceful and the photo corners and sweet ribbon are a perfect finishing touch! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #9! Hugs, Darnell

  4. Your leafy cards are just beautiful, Kathy. I especially love the card with the cross. How lovely!! The colors on both cards are just perfect for Fall, and those leaves look amazing. What a clever way to use those photo corners too! I'll have to remember that! Thanks for joining us at the Twofer Challenge. Bev
