It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. . Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors. Stop by the blog to check it out! (pennyschallenges.blogspot.com)
This week, I used Cute As A Button's sweet image named "Breakfast for Mom or Dad" (you can find it here- cuteasabuttonstamps.com) I used a technique called "Eclipse Card" and provided a close-up side view so that you can see the diecut LOVE. You can find an excellent tutorial here- http://beccysplace.blogspot.com/search/label/eclipse%20card [Actually, Beccy's Place has a huge list of tutorials available. It is my 'go-to' place when I want to learn a new technique or fold. Check it out. I used only the top part of the digi image [being able to reduce, enlarge, and clip images is one reason that I now use mainly digis], colored it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, and layered the finished beauty onto a few scraps of patterned paper that complimented the image. The love die cut on the inside of the card is from Stampin' Up, and the little words are from a Stampendous set of clear stamps named "Big Words." [You can find it here- www.stampendous.com]

Word Art Wednesday Challenge- #350-351 Anything Goes (wordartwednesday.blogspot.com)
This week I am hosting the Wednesday Challenge at the wecraftcards forum [wecraftcards.com/forum] and decided to invite participants to create a card that features something unusual. It can be an upcycled item, like the bread tag on mine, or an usual pairing of images, sentiment with an image, etc. I encouraged them to "think outside of the box a bit and I'll bet you will amaze yourself. Or, prowl around on Pinterest for ideas. I saw this little spook idea many years ago and finally remembered to save a bread tag to make one." The wonderful background is actually the corner of an upcycled calendar page. The sentiment on the front of the card is a freebie from TLC Creations (createwithtlc.blogspot.com) and the sentiment on the inside is a freebie from Bird's Cards [birdscards.com] So, I just realized that this card actually costs almost nothing to make. Just upcycled items and free sentiments. (My mom, who grew up during the depression and so was the queen of recycling and creating beauty from scraps would be proud of me.)

It's Stamptember… and Simon Says Stamps is celebrating by hosting two challenges to use stamps [not digi images] on a card. So, I dug a few wood mount stamps out again and got busy. Have always loved this snowman card from Stampendous. For this card, I kept things fairly simple with a monochrome color scheme that has just a few pops of red accents. I've always loved the look of white pencil on grey cardstock, and it worked especially well for a snowman and snowflakes. The inside sentiment is also from Stampendous. Easy Peasy.
