Reasons to Celebrate

Had fun in my craft room this weekend making a bunch of cards. [And I mean a bunch. Going to take a while to get them all posted.] The first, for the Simon Says Monday Challenge is to make some kind of packaging. When organizing my desk [or I should say when trying to find my desk top, heh heh] I found an extra set of cute elf digis I'd printed off a while ago and also a plastic box that once held some sort of craft supplies. Together, they make an adorable gift box. The sentiment is computer generated [something I created just for these cute little elves, which are called, "Funny Elves" from Maria Mendel Illustrations. You can find them here- at www.etsy.com/shop/MMedelIllustrations] I was just gifted a set a circle dies from a friend so it was quick and easy to make all these circles. Love it. [I will add treats to this box, but not until just before I use it. Otherwise, well... the treats might disappear.]

This adorable digi image, named "Bug Book Sitter" was last weeks Friday Freebie at Bugaboo Stamps. I had fun making this card for Bugaboos Stella Says Sketch Challenge and also Power Poppy Hit the Books challenge. Found the free book page that I used for the background here http://www.gutenberg.org/files/26019/26019-h/26019-h.htm [because what little girl doesn't love reading stories about fairies?] The pile of books and inside sentiment are both freebies from winkwinkink.com [the books come precolored. I just added a bit more shading with Spectrum Noir markers and highlights with white gel pen.]
I also printed off an extra copy of the book and legs, colored and fussy-cut them, then mounted them with thick foam tape so that they pop up a bit. The extra photo shows that effect... but really doesn't do it justice. The little cutie really looks like she is perched on the pile of books.

I don't usually use sequins on my cards, mainly because they never want to stay put. So I was happy to learn that one of my newest purchases, a set of Nuvo Crystal Drops, seems to attach them securely. Was fun to create this card to enter into a few challenges that require sequins or bling, plus I was able to use some wonderful creations that a friend sent to me in a recent card candy swap at the wecraftcards Forum.  Was so fun to craft a card that holds a few of her gems on the front and also inside of the card. The inside sentiment is a freebie from winkwinkink.com
