I created another card for the current
Allsorts challenge “Romantic Occasions” using a sweet little wedding couple stamp I’ve had in my collection since the 1990s. I utilized a variety of scraps: brushed gold cardst0ck, mulberry paper, white vellum, a paper doily, sheer ribbon, and
a bit of pretty paper upcycled from an old wedding card. The sentiments are
computer generated… and the one on the inside is from personal experience! (On
our 3th Anniversary I teased my husband that we’d had “25 years of ‘wedded
bliss’, 7 years of ‘pretty good’, and 3 years of ‘whatever were we thinking?’” Rich
grinned and said, “Hon, I think you got those last two mixed up!”) Since then, I’ve incorporated some of that fun banter as a sentiment on wedding cards like this.
I’m entering my card into several challenges including Park Hopping-My
Happy Place (This is a favorite challenge… as it has introduced me to many new
amusement parks. I did some research and found a few theme parks that include
wedding venues, including
Disney (three locations)
and
Carowinds (in beautiful North
Carolina)
Supplies:
· Bride & Groom Stamp image- (I pulled the rubber from the wood a
while ago so am not sure of the company. But I think its from Denami, Posh
Impressions, or Printworks.)
· Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
· Sentiments-

· Carriage
and castle inside of the card are made with foam stamps from a bag of misc. craft supplies I found at the local Goodwill.
· Lavendar photo corners, circle punch, and all other items from
my stash.

Park Hopping-My Happy Place (July)
Last month I posted a
card (HERE) made with a Not2Shabby 6x6 paper pack
that includes a wonderful assortment of papers plus eight adorable pre-colored
sea turtles. I wanted to enter a card into this month's Not2Shabby challenge,
and their mood board (plus a template I found on Pinterest) inspired me to
use two of the papers to create yummy watermelon slices. When folded in half, the largest slice works perfectly as a rocker-style shape card! (The slices were
so easy and fun to make that I made them in 7 sizes and have lots of ideas for
how to use them. So… stay tuned for more in the future.) I added heart-shaped “seeds”
to each, by making a line of “v”s with a Black Sharpie pen, then rounding
them out to become simple hearts. The final touches were to add a bow, sentiments, and two sweet little bees. One “hovers” above a bite mark with the help of a small
strip of acetate. Easy Peasy!

The card base and watermelon slice
on this card were made with the same Not2Shabby 6x6 paper pack I used for the card above. After coloring and
fussy-cutting the cute little Bear from Gerda Steiner Designs (GSD), I
carefully cut around his hands, added a few strips of foam tape to the backside
of the yummy watermelon slice, slipped it into place and patted it down. I
wanted to add some color to keep him from blending into the brown
background, so used colorful plastic index divider sheets to create another watermelon slice. (If
you follow my blog you’ll know I use these wonderful items quite often.
Sometimes called document file folders, they come in a pack of assorted colors
and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. They're cheaper
than colored vellum and more translucent. Punches and dies don’t work on these
sheets, but they are easy to cut with a sharp pair of scissors. You
can use templates to trace shapes onto them with a permanent fine-line marker.)
Double stick tape helped put the card elements together, including
a sentiment and butterfly embellishment.
(An added note: the Bear digi
I used for this card was a freebie in a GSD progressive challenge years ago. The
image is still available, but as part of a wonderful 4x6 clear stamp set named “Melon
Friends”. Also, GDS still offers some Freebies on the Digital Stamps section of
their website HERE. And if you sign up for their
newsletter HERE you’ll occasionally get them via emails.
