Weekend Fun!

Ack! The new Blogger format is doing weird things with font size, indentations and bullet points! I cannot fix it no matter what I try. Sorry if this makes it harder to read.

I had fun creating a grunge card using this wonderful digi from Createful Heart Design, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and some texture items from my stash. My grandpa had a truck like this, but it had wood accents on the back. So... I cut some scraps of woodgrain paper into thin strips to create a wood truck bed (I think that is what they call it?!) The fun sentiments are based on an item I’ve had in my files for several decades. I found a few versions on the web, but don’t have a clue of its original source. If you know it’s the source, please let me know so I can credit them.

Supplies:
Digi- Createful Heart Design (Worn Out Truck)
Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
Front Sentiment- Desert Diva Freebie sentiment (Happy Birthday- grunge style)
Inside Sentiments- Computer Generated (not sure of original source)
Assorted background papers and texture items from my stash

Last year I met a talented young artist named Sherry West via her FB page. The images she creates are adorable, so I was thrilled to win a few of them through contests on her FB page HERE. This sweet image is being provided as a freebie for a “Name this Digi” contest, which runs through the 28th of August. So join Sherry’s FB page to obtain a copy of this fun digi and to be alerted to future freebies and challenges. (BTW- Sherry is also an author. Her first children’s book, named “It’s Raining Cats Dogs and Pollywogs,” quickly sold out the first run on Amazon after its release. You can find it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other sources across the web.)

The current Day of the Month Challenge celebrates National Watermelon Day. So, my final card for this posting features a cute watermelon eating bear digi from Gerda Steiner. I used the current Outlawz Sketch as my layout, and had fun adding ants to the yummy scene! I’m entering this card into several challenges, including Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge (I printed the bear on Kraft paper, added two bright colors- red & green- plus added lots of little ants), Outlawz Sketch Challenge (I know that the watermelon slide is much bigger than the little circle on the lower part of the sketch... but I hope that it kinda fits?!) and Scribbles Designs Challenge (when I think of the great outdoors, I think of camping, picnics, yummy watermelon and.... ants!)

  14. Kathy A: Hey! I've just joining CHD's design team in September and thought I'd stop by and say thank you for using CHD's image of "Worn Out Truck" on the masculine birthday card. Your inside panels are cleverly done too for coordinating with the old truck. Great project! --Becca/new DT for CHD
