Welcome August!

I'm NOT liking the new Blogger! Please forgive any odd spacing, or font issues. They are basically doing whatever they please no matter how much I try to correct them. Ackkk!

It’s the 1st of the month so time for another challenge at QKR Stampede. Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself?
My DT card features a QKR digital stamp named "Artist Bear." I colored the digi with alcohol markers to match a scrap of gift wrap that has paint-splattered coloring, which provides a wonderful background. After fussy-cutting the colored Artist, I layered him atop a scrap of vellum so that he'd stand out a bit. The QKR sentiment named "True Friend" is a perfect match for the digi!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz  Tuesday Color Challenge (my card includes Orange + blue & green. Actually I think it includes all of the colors on the wheel plus several more.)

Since it’s the first of the month, I also get to share my DT card for the August Sheepski Designs Challenge. This month’s theme is “No Rules- Anything You Want” and since I love Gnomes and flowers… I picked a digi, named Wildflower, that includes both! When I learned that the flowers were Forget-me-nots I searched the web for fun sayings about this sweet flower. I adapted several to create the sentiments for this fun card. In order to hold all of them I needed some extra space. The solution was to use a Tri-Fold Shutter Card as my base. A sheet of scrapbook paper helped decorate it. The paper contained buttons, and I fussy-cut a few of them to use as embellishments, attaching them with foam-backed tape.
PS Stop by the Sheepski blog to learn more about the monthly challenges. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself and have a chance to win some wonderful digis created by artist Andrea Norris!

Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge- August

One of Power Poppy’s July challenges, named Mini-Me, required that  we  use one of our
original creations to inspire a “mini-version.” I immediately knew which card I’d use, a
beauty featuring their digi set named Autumn’s Opulence. For my new card, I used a portion
of the large fall bouquet to create a bookmark card. After coloring the image, I adhered it to
a bookmark that I’d fussy cut to fit the digi, and added ribbons to the end. I created a
slimline card (have been making lots of these lately!) and added a few vellum “belt loops”
and slipped the bookmark through them to safely nestle it onto the card front. The other
sentiment from the set is used on the inside of the card.
