I tried something a little different with a Eureka digi and sentiment, making a beautiful bookmark. I copied the Butterfly and
Daisy Flower digi to tan parchment, cropping just the butterfly from the image,
then printed and colored it with alcohol markers and white gel pen. Before
fussy-cutting the image, I strengthened it by carefully attaching squares of a clear Self-Adhesive
Laminating Sheet to both the front and back. When finished, I used to bone folder to gently press out air bubbles.
When finished, I colored
and fussy-cut the butterfly, making sure not to accidentally cut off an antenna.
I then scored and folded the center of his body. I cut a strip of the tan
cardstock slightly smaller than the width of the butterfly and securely
attaching the flaps to each side of his folded body. When finished, the
sentiment was trimmed and added to the bookmark. I love the way the butterfly
wings perch atop the pages of a closed book. So fun!
Note- My
inspiration for this bookmark was a free template I received after joining Krista
Leigh Smith’s Newsletter. Krista is the artist that created the classic
Saturated Canary line of stamps. You can sign up for her newsletter and snag some
of her amazing creations, too.
I am entering this bookmark into several challenges include Simon Says Monday’s Summer Memories (To me… butterflies are such a gorgeous sign of summer… and the hope of summer’s return!), the current Butterfly Challenge (my bookmark includes one color- buttermilk/light tan, and one theme- butterfly) and Ching-Chou Kuik's Autumn Colours (Bright shades of orange and red like in this butterfly’s wings are my favorite shades of Autumn. My hubby and I have lived in Wisconsin now for about 15 years and we NEVER tire of the beauty of the fall leaves here. They take my breath away every year!)
