A Handful of Cards

Wanted to make one more card to enter in this week’s Simon Says Monday “Stencil It” challenge. Opted for a Christmas card that I can also enter in a few other challenges. This card features a wonderful holly leaf stamp from Denami Designs, plus a few sentiment stamps, and a stripe stencil from Printworks. (Although I’ve had these for nearly 20 years they are still favorites!)

Another entry into CAS-ual Fridays TicTacToe challenge is which highlights these three options:  butterfly, tag and texture (cork and twine.)  Also, since it has several layers, I entered into a challenge over at Deep Ocean.

I worked my way through college back in the 70’s working at the campus library. So, when I found this B&W photo on the web, it brought back memories of the hours I spent searching the card catalog and the “stacks” that were located in the basement of the old building (think catacombs)! Mounted the “vintage” image on teh front of a tri-fold flap card and added a little teal shading. Printed a “how old are you?” survey that I’ve had in my craft files for several decades on my computer. Added the survey to the second flap, and the "score" sheet on the inside of the card. This card that is sure to bring a smile to an "old" friends face!

My final card tonight is a wonderful Spring image from beccys place digi set named “Iris Garden.” My sweet mom loved her irises, so I think of her everytime I use this set. Mounted this pre-colored image onto a background made with strips of different colored marbled paper. I love how the swirls in the embossed sentiment mimic the marbling on the paper!

  1. Your cards are wonderful Kathy, I especially love the "prehistoric googling". There were quite a few things on that list that I remember, although I think some of them might not have been here in Australia... it certainly made me feel old!
You've done a wonderful job with the pretty iris card, I really love the marbled background paper. It was really nice to read that the images remind you of your sweet Mum.
    Cheers,
    Beccy
