Holidays and tutus!

Yesterday was Independence Day here in the States, so I enjoyed making a few cards for Simon Says Monday Challenge this week. This one was made with a large solid heart stamp from Posh Impressions.  Back in the 90’s, I saw Dee Gruenig, an amazing stamp artists, demonstrate at a convention back. She showed how to create a heart shaped flag image. Since I’ve done this many times, I actually drew the flag image on the stamp with a ballpoint pen (reverse image) so that I could more easily fill in the sections with large Marvy red and blue brush markers.

Am enjoying making Christmas cards year round for challenges, so that I’ll have a nice staff when December hits. My family has lots of fun traditions during the holidays. One is finding yummy drinks to share. My specialty is hot drinks, and this one is a family favorite! It is yummy (and I don’t even like rum!)
Here is the recipe in case you want to try it yourself!
Hot Buttered Rum Batter
Blend together:
2 sticks butter, softened
1¼ cups brown sugar
1¾ cups powdered sugar
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
½ tsp. allspice
Add:
1 pint vanilla ice cream, softened. Stir until well mixed.
Pour mixture into a plastic container, seal, and
refrigerate. (Or store in freezer for up to 3 months.)
Serve:
In a mug, measure 2-3 tsp. Batter and 1 fluid ounce of
rum. Fill mug with boiling water. Stir, and sprinkle with
nutmeg. Note- this tastes good without the rum, too.
So the whole family can enjoy this holiday treat!

I am just learning to use alcohol markers. On a limited budget I am only able to purchase a few at a time. Recently picked up a set of “cool gray” Spectrum Noir’s and love how they make black hair shimmer! Am thankful for the many tutorials at https://www.tiddlyinks.com/tutorials-and-how-tos that helped me to create this raven haired beauty! (The digi is Tiddlyinks Tiny Dancer. Isn’t she adorable?!)
