myasperations 8-31-24

Last month a sweet blogger friend introduced me to Moondrea Designs images. The artist/owner, Andreia Silva, has an Etsy page HERE and is sponsoring her first FB Progressive Challenge this month HERE. I really liked this month's free digi so I signed up for the Progressive Challenge and can’t wait to see what September offers!
I wanted the poppies on Andreia’s digi to stand out, so other than the flowers and hair, used pale pastel shades for the rest of the coloring. I grounded the card with a poppy field silhouette from Sheepski Designs, and black photo corners.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Time Out: Photo Inspiration (my card, especially the sentiment, fits the theme of Friendship/Encouragement/Support)

Right now ALL of them (including sets that sell for $6) are on sale for $1.50! Stop in here to check them out!

I created this cute card as my final entry into Di’s Digi Stamps: Clean and Simple Challenge. This card might not look like a CAS card, but for me, a person who loves fussy cutting, embellishing, and layering, this is pretty basic! The wonderful colored background image is a freebie from Di’s Digis FB Page. (You can join HERE, then access the freebie by typing Halloween Moon into Di’s FB search bar.)
I traced the ghost from the printed digi onto a scrap of vellum, then trimmed the original ghost. After coloring the pumpkin and bunny, I attached the vellum ghost. The process took a little planning but otherwise went together quickly.
A sad note- Di Carubia, artist/owner of Di’s Digi recently announced that she is closing her website and offering 60% off her current inventory. You have until Aug 31 to shop her sale HERE. The good news is that her Etsy Shop will remain open HERE,)
I’m entering my card into several challenges including Park Hopping: My Happy Place (I have one Halloween theme park on my bucket list-Hersheypark Halloween. Two words-Free Chocolate!)

I love sunflowers, so I made this card for a current sunflower challenge. I used a digi from a Beccy’s Place set that provides several great “panels” for many occasions. I’m in the process of uncluttering my home, so had fun using items I’ve had in my stash for a while.  Scraps of ribbon and burlap, patterned paper, and brown Nuvo Drops add color, patterns, and texture to the finished card.
I’m entering my card into several challenges including Colorful Options:Yellow/Green (sunflowers display both of these colors!), and Not2Shabby: August Sunflowers (a single beautiful sunflower takes center stage on my card.)

Supplies:

·   Digi- Sunflowers from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Hello Sunshine)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Nuvo Drops- Copper Penny (Adds texture to the center of sunflower)

·   Front Sentiment “Thanks so Much” from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Card Panels)

I made this card for the current Outlawz Sunday Challenge. Based on the poem, “Red Wheelbarrow.”  I was inspired by the poem’s name, and my card features a perfect from Fred She Said. Since I needed to color the wheelbarrow red, I decided to turn my card into a Christmas card. I colored just the wheelbarrow on the digi, and also colored and fussy-cut Christmas greenery from a Dover Publications coloring book page. After cutting a slit along the front edge of the wheelbarrow, I slid sections of the greenery on top of the spring flowers in the original digi. Christmas gifts from a Beccy’s Place set, colored and fussy-cut, provide embellishments. The sentiments are from a favorite Beccy’s Place digi set, except that changed the format of the inside of the card by adding a brightly-colored upcycled “MERRY” to the “Make it Merry” sentiment.
I’m entering my card into several challenges including Papercraft Challenge: Polka Dots (both the ribbon and gifts on front of card are polka dotted).

Supplies:

·   Wheelbarrow Digi- Fred She Said (Wheelbarrow)

·   Gift digis from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Here Comes Christmas)

·   Christmas Foliage from a Dover Publications Coloring Book (Creative Haven Christmas Cheer)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment “Ready or Not Here Comes Christmas” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Here Comes Christmas)

·   Inside Sentiment “Make It...” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Here Comes Christmas) and “Merry” upcycled from an old card.

·   All other items from my stash.

Since I have lots (and I mean LOTS) of patterned paper scraps, I had fun using some of them to create a card that includes three cute little paper scrap trees!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Simon Says: Tags (the tag on the front of my card is adhered with a strip of detachable tape so it can be easily removed for use on a gift!), Pixie’s Snippets (A favorite challenge which encourages me to use my scraps, aka snippets. The entries provide lots of great ideas for using scraps and the challenge hosts, and regular participants, are wonderful people!) and Papercraft Challenges (Please allow me  to channel Bob Ross and say that several of the “happy little trees” are sporting polka dots in Christmas colors!)
Supplies:
·   Sentiments on card are from my scrapbook stash.

·   Vellum with music- Hobby Lobby

·   Pioneer Black Photo corners- available from several sources

·   Other patterned paper, scraps of ribbon and other items from my stash.

I'm busy finishing (and posting) a few more cards for the August Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers (BYSHC) group. This one features a suave frog named Carl, who is hoping for a few mistletoe smooches!  I flipped the Sketch on it's side, then created the background with strips of paper scraps in neutral colors, then added pops of color with shapes cut from red and green plastic file folders. (If you follow my blog you’ll know that I use these wonderful items quite often. Sometimes called document file folders, they come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. They're cheaper than colored vellum and more translucent. Punches and dies don’t work on these sheets, but they are easy to fussy cut with a sharp pair of scissors. And you can use templates or stencils to trace shapes onto them with a permanent fine line marker.)
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Allsorts: Delightful Animals  (I wasn’t sure a frog is considered an animal so I did a bit of research. And… and Yep,  Carl is an classified as an animal, but I’m thinking he is might be a bit more  snarky than delightfult?), and Park Hopping-My Happy Place (I  did a bit of research on this one, too, and found out that Disneyworld  just opened up a new movie inspired adventure named Tianas Bayou Adventure. Sounds like it might provide a hopping good time!) and Beccy’s Place (I often use Beccy's sentiments on my cards, and occasionally turn an image into an embellishment, as I did with this Mistletoe sprig!)
Supplies:

·   Front Digi- Scribbles Designs (Cool Carl)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Mistletoe Digi- Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Tied Up with String) Retired
