Here is one more card for the current challenge at Di’s Digis and humorous
sentiments. This scruffy puppy is looking like he is showing restraint in not
attacking that treat holder in one might lunge. However, the sentiment predicts
that he is not going to be able to resist those yummies for much longer. (Hmmm… just how does one “grow taller”? As a
barely 5 foot tall, lover of ice cream, cheesecake, and all kinds of baked
goods, I definitely could benefit from learning that trick!)
I’m entering this card into several other challenges, including Park Hopping-My Happy Place (my card is inspired by Universal Studios, CA-USA, The Secret Lives of Pets, plus, from what I remember, Universal Studios park offered waaaayy too many sweet treats!) Supplies:
·
Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique
markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·
Sentiments-Freebie from Gingerhouse.blogspot.com (Losing weight…)
·
Gold Filigree Swirls- Upcycled from
a wedding invitation
·
Scallop bordered paper on cake tray- fussy-cut from a paper doily

I had fun making this card with a pile of Christmas paper strips cut
from my many, many piles of scraps. It is for the current Snippets Challenge
for two reasons. 1) I used up a bunch of snippets (scraps) and 2) the sweet
little pup in the middle (yeah… the star of the show!) looks so much like Dudley,
the beloved pup of the founder of the challenge, Diane Wray. I am sharing a
copy of his photo, from the challenge blog where he is recognized as “Dudley
Dog- Snippets Playground
mascot and general busybody.” I love when Di shares
stories about this fun-loving little guy's escapades. He is a sweetheart!
Instuctions- This card is easy to make, albeit a
little tedious. Here are instructions if you’d like to make one yourself! The
center needs to feature a square or rectangular-shaped digi. Dudley worked
beautifully so I adhered his colored and fussy-cut image to a black rectangle and
set him aside. I cut an A2-sized piece from a sheet of clear self-stick laminate, flipped it sticky side up on
my craft table and gently positioned little Dudley onto the sticky surface.
Strips of black cardstock were used to frame the little pup, I carefully
positioned, each then patted them into place. The tedious, but fun part, was
selecting strips of Christmas colored/patterned paper and slowly creating festive
patterns by adding them, clockwise, around the rectangle. (Because I had long
enough strips of the ones I chose, I developed a repeating pattern in each sector,
however, you can add them in any way desired! Don’t worry about strip ends
hanging over the sticky laminate during this part of the process. Also, it’s
best to gently lay them in place before pressing them down as the laminate likes
to hang onto anything that is pressed into place!) When you have all of the
spaces filled, trim any snippets that hang over the edge. To make sure that no
little snippets along the edges fall off, I like to place strips of transparent
tape along the front edges, folding them over onto the underside.)

I found these wonderful cookies, all decked out in red, white and blue,
at a nearby bakery. I enjoyed one with a mug of coffee and just had to buy
extras to take home and decorate as a treat for my many co-workers. Small cellophane
bags, ribbon, scraps of patriotic paper, and a simple sentiment helped me get
them put together quickly, and delivered before I could eat more than one more!
(Mmmm… better than anything I could bake AND I didn’t have to heat up our
house. Win-win!)
