Little Donkey

I love being a "Contributor" for Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place. It’s fun to receive an invitation every few months to create cards and other paper creations using one of Beccy’s new and not-yet-released digi sets. This set named Little Donkey worked beautifully for a birthday and Christmas cards.

The birthday card features the Donkey with Daisies image, plus three sentiments from the set. (I did add an extra line at the bottom of the sentiment on the back because all birthdays required cake, don’t they?!) Decided to make a fancy base for the fun card, using the instructions for a Pop Up Front Step Panel Card that I found HERE. Am entering this card into several challenges including Outlaws Monday Challenge with the theme green reigns (my card includes a bold green checked paper  framing the front image/back sentiment. )

Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge- March

The first Christmas card features the little donkey image that is wearing a pretty blanket. I created a background that reflects the colors on the background with paper scraps using a tutorial I found HERE. I love the “Just a little donkey carried Heavens Precious Light” sentiment in Beccy’s set because I’ve had a poem in my files called “Just a Little Donkey” that I found years ago HERE.) The inside sentiment is computer generated. Am entering this card into several challenges including Incy Wincy Designs (just entering for fun… because I’m a contributor for Beccy’s Place) and Perfect Time to Crafts (just entering for fun because I'm a DT for the challenge's current sponsor- Sheepski Designs.)

This Christmas card features the BONUS IMAGE in the set, the little donkey with no blanket. Once again, I wanted to create a fun fold background so I did some experimenting and came up with this unique fold that was really easy to make. I cut a 4.25 x 5.5-inch sheet of navy cardstock and folded it into a basic A2 card. I then folded the front of the card back to the crease. (You’ll be able to see this in one of the photos.)I then crafted a “stable” with woodgrain patterned background paper, and attached it so the folded section on the card front. I adhered the colored donkey and added stars on the navy background with a white gel pen. The little legend of the donkey saying is from an Oriental Trading Company Christmas ornament. It is the perfect fit for this card!

  12. Oh Kathy - I adore each and every single card you made, along with your snippets entry of course. What a beautiful image/set of images and I lovehow you made the background look like his rug. Donkeys are always so very sweet and patient - unless you're behind them when they kick! I lived near a great UK author (Catherine Cookson) a good few years ago and out on the almost open moors in Northumberland she had a beautiful bungalow. In her rambling gardens she kept various wild life and one such was a donkey - who would rush to the stone wall, which he could have jumped over to be honest, and bare his teeth to bray 'Hello' at you when you drove past. A memory that still makes me smile.

    Hugs
