Friday also means
that I get to share DT cards for the Colour Crazy
Challenge. This challenge is also an “Anything Goes” but if adds a requirement-
the creation needs to include coloring in “any colouring medium you like, onto any project you like,
and in any colours you like.” I’ve never outgrown my love for coloring… which
is why making cards is stress therapy for me!! Our sponsor this week is Dr.
Digi and I enjoyed creating a card that
features a sweet image named
“Cuddly Critters Panda.” The image is colored with Spectrum Noir
markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. I created the 3-D paper heart with a template and instructions
available HERE. I used an
Exacto knife to cut a slit around his paw then slid the heart under it so it
looks like he’s holding it close! The Love sentiment is a freebie from mudmaven.blogspot.com.

My
final card for this posting features an image that I actually drew in 1997 for Petersen
Rubber Stamps. This husband and wife's home business in South Dakota featured
a small line of wood-mount rubber stamps that were sold mainly through craft shows
across the nation. Donna Petersen and her husband spent part of the year creating
stamps with a vulcanizer (she once showed me how it worked. Pretty impressive!)
The rest of the year, they loaded up their motor home and set up sales booths
at flea markets across Arizona, Texas, Florida and other “Snowbird” states. I'd drawn several designs for Donna and it
was fun to see them featured in her collection. This Viking image was one of the
best sellers. (Possibly because there were so many Minnesota Viking fans in South Dakota, and also Norwegians!)
For
this card I wanted the image to have a soft, rustic feeling so opted to use watercolors
and chalks instead of my usual alcohol markers. A Sharpie silver pen added
silver accents. I added one of my favorite computer generated sentiments, turning
the card into three “panels” (front, inside left and inside right) to fit the
entire sentiment on a regular A2 card. I provided close-ups of the inside panels so you can see the details. So fun!
