March Twofer Challenge

One of my favorite monthly challenges is called "Twofer Card Challenge" which requires the use the exact same stamp or die to make two cards with distinctly different designs for two different occasions. The March Challenge is named "Spring Animals" and I had fun using a sweet little bunny wood mount stamp that I’ve had in my collection for a few decades. It’s from Northwoods Stamps. Back in the late ’90s when a friend and I owned a stamp store in South Dakota, this wonderful company was one of our best-selling lines. We loved their finely detailed stamps and especially their wildlife images. When looking for Spring Animals in my collection, I was glad to find this little hare!  (I was also excited to find that the company is still in business. You can find them HERE.)

For the birthday card, I decided to keep things CAS, stamping the bunny on grey parchment cardstock, and providing just a bit of color with alcohol markers. To make the little furry tail, I trimmed a bit of fluff from fake white fur fabric, rolled it into a small ball and glued it onto the little bunny butt! The sentiment is computer generated.

For the Easter card, I stamped the bunny on kraft cardstock. I also used a wood mount lettuce stamp from a company named Double D Stamps, which is sadly no longer in business. I stamped the lettuce on light green paper, adding shading and highlights before fussy-cutting it to create a fun little “flap” under which I hid the bunny. Once again, the front sentiment is computer generated. I picked up some colorful Easter egg paper on a recent craft store visit that provides some fun color to the card's background. The inside sentiment is from Eureka Stamps (I used a digital image. But unmounted and cling-mounted images are also available.) I colored the letters, then added “details” that reflect those on the Easter eggs. I also fussy cut a few of the colorful images to embellish the sentiment.

I had extra eggs I’d fussy-cut from the Easter paper and decided to use them to create a card to enter into the wecraftcards challenge, which was to make a tree with unusual leaves or colors. I think this whimsical card fits that requirement. The branch digi and sentiment on the front of the card are from a Beccy’s Place retired set. I added some wispy clouds with chalk, a makeup sponge and a template cut from scrap paper.

·    Easter Egg paper- Hobby Lobby
·    Cloud template cut from scrap paper, chalks and makeup sponge

  2. That is just the sweetest little bunny, Kathy ... and your soft colouring suits him wonderfully on both cards! We have lots of grey (and brown) hares in the vines here, so I really appreciate your fun birthday sentiment! What a cute idea to hide the little guy under the flip up lettuce on your Easter card ... that's so bright and colourful and whimsical! Great use of the eggs on your 'plus one' card ... puts a whole new spin on the thought of an Easter egg hunt! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

  9. So much fun, Kathy! I love the sentiment with your gray hare and what a cute little bunny! How cool to make a lift-the-flap card with the head of lettuce, and those eggs make a great background. Very clever how you cut the eggs to put on a branch too! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
