Valentines and Hot Chocolate

Here is my second very pink Valentine card using Art Impression’s Crazy Cat Lady clear stamp set.  I used a freebie Valentine’s Day Subway art as my background, a few puffy heart stickers and a freebie sentiment on the inside to make a fun card. Oh, and the pink rectangle behind the fur adorned cat lover  is made with a scraps of a pink plastic document folder. These wonderful items come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. I really like using them on my cards because they're cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  The plastic is easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors].

I love this sweet penguin named Finn. He is a creation of the amazing Beccy Muir at Beccy’s Place, and she gave him center stage in several digi sets. This one, named Finn’s Hot chocolate, is one of my favs! I love that contented look on his face as the aroma of rich hot chocolate wafts up from that humungous mug. And those floppy toed socks make me smile. I’m entering this card into several challenges including The Sisterhood of Crafters- Newly Acquired Stash (Background papers are a recent purchase at the local Goodwill. For just $2.50 I got a scrapbook kit with paper, stickers and lots of embellies!), Sketch N Scrap (I followed the sketch, except that I didn't want to cover up Finn's floppy-toed sock with an item to reflect the daisy on the card. Instead, I positioned the background paper that has a grey circle near that area), and Outlawz Saturday Challenge-Things That Make You Happy (Hot Chocolate makes me very happy. Actually, I’m enjoying a large steaming mug of this nectar of the Gods as I write this post. It is a staple during our long, cold winters here in the Midwest of the USA. Tonight, I added a shot of Peppermint Schnapps. Yummy!)

My final card was created for the current shaker challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven. I used artist Tricia Moore’s cute digi named Little Monster, paper-piecing his “skin” with beautiful shiny green paper upcycled from a gift bag. I used googly eyes to add a bit of fun to the card (and who doesn’t like googly eyes?) When I went to find the link to the digi I discovered that the knobs on his head are pushed in further than on the digi. I also didn’t tilt the little cuties head like it is in the original and the jaw needed to be moved closer to the eyes. I don't have time now, but before I use this card, I will take it apart and make that change as this little monster on my card could be so much cuter! (I’ll add the watermarked digi so that you can see the original.)  I like to pick up confetti at the local dollar store at their sales after every holiday. I’ve had a packet of these gold, red and pink hearts since last Spring. To help prevent clumping of the pretty confetti, I added some seed beads and bugle beads in pink, white and red to help prevent the hearts. I also wiped the inside of the acetate with a dryer sheet to try to reduce static that can cause the confetti to stick to the acetate. I am entering this card into several challenges including Power Poppy’s Creative Confetti- Sketch It Out (I followed the sketch pretty closely, but instead of an oval in the center, I have a bumpy monster! I did add two red confetti hearts on the banner ends to reflect the sketch banner.)
One added note- You can pick up this cute digi right now for just $1.50, and it includes one sentiment and several patterned papers.
Supplies:
·    Monster digi- Little Scraps of Heaven (Little Monster Valentine)
·    Front Sentiment- computer generated
·    Inside sentiment- LoveSVG.com freebie (Cool Grandma)
·    Shimmery Metallic green paper- upcycled from a Christmas gift bag
·    Cardstock, patterned paper, a scrap of acetate and google eyes are from my stash.
·    Package of heart confetti- Dollar Store
·    Bugle and seed beads from my stash.

  16. A wonderful collection of cards Kathy, you've done a great job as always. I love the cat lady image... her "hat" is great! I'm sure a cat lover is going to really enjoy this one. Your penguin card is fabulous, perfect for the winter weather you're having. The heart in the background looks lovely. The shaker card is lots of fun Kathy, great idea to add all the sprinkles to the heart. Fabulous!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
