Mid-week Creations

It is Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! 

This week, I created cards made with images from both of our sponsors, All Dressed Up and Sprinkle and Sparkle.

For the first card, I used "Jam Jars" from All Dressed Up to create an elegant spring card. You can find the set HERE.  I colored the beautiful flowers with Spectrum Noir markers and added highlights with a white gel pen. Because I used a bold print background, I decided to outline the images with the white gel pen to set them apart a bit. You can't see it very well in the photos, but the jars are covered with acetate to give them the shimmer of glass. To do this I first used an exacto knife to cut slits along the sides of each of the jars. I then traced the jar shapes onto acetate with a fine line black Sharpie pen, sketching "tabs" on each side of the jars and then cutting them out. I did the same thing with light blue vellum, but sketched the vellum to only "fill" the jars partially with the "water." I then slid first the vellum and then the acetate tabs into the slits along each jar and taped them down on the back of the card. The sentiment on the front of the card is from a We Are 3 Digital Sentiments set named "Harvest." You can find it HERE. The inside sentiment is computer generated.

Couldn’t resist this adorable image from Sprinkle and Sparkle named "Kitty Celebrates." You can find the set HERE. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and love the way the balloons came to life when I allowed the alcohol markers to blend together creating a wonderful translucent beauty. I then used a white gel pen and grey fine line watercolor marker to add highlights and then lightly sketch in the details on the balloons in the background. The inside sentiment is from the Kitty Celebrates set, and the sentiment on the front is from an Imagine That digi set named "Giraffe with Butterflies." You can find the set HERE.
