A Blizzard of Cards

My entry in Beccy's Place Fifth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge for the letter "K" is Kings. I got the Three Kings image in a swap a few years ago so don't know who makes the image, but the vellum sentiment is from Lili of the Valley. A distressed embossed tag and background for the image, a bit of color, bling and embroidery floss on the Magi, plus two strips of ribbon for the hanger … and the tag is complete.

Had fun creating a Joy-fold card with no less than nine varieties of stamped, punched, hand-cut and sticker snowflakes. The mini snowman is an old, old SU stamp. Used a sentiment from Lawn Fawns "Warm Winter Wishes" clear set. Entering this card into several challenges, including Lawn Fawnatics "Use oldest LF set" challenge, (in truth, this is actually the only Lawn Fawn stamp set I own. I love the crisp and clean image that the set provides, so hope to add more to my collection in the near future), and Pixies snippets (because there was a lot of fussy cutting a few of the white snowflakes, plus fussy cutting the sparkly ones from an old card.

I love this sweet image from Di's Digi Stamps called "Snuggled Up with Izzy." I printed it on light blue parchment cardstock to provide some snowy looking depth. I then colored it with watercolor pencils and Spectrum Nior alcohol markers, plus added white gel pen to "fluff up" her fur hood and cuffs. The final touch was adding a circle of white craft ink blow from the lantern. Not quite sure what sentiment I will use on this card… will add that when needed. Am entering it into a few challenges, including Di's "Monochromatic" and Deep Ocean Challenge, "Inspired by a Song/Movie." My card is inspired by the song, "This Little Light of Mine."

Found this stamped image in my stash this last weekend (I think it might have been a Printworks stamp) and knew that I needed to showcase it on a card. When I stamped it… I think over a decade ago… I had used a deep teal ink instead of black. Not sure why… but I loved the look. Colored the image with my Tombow markers and white gel pen, plus added a pop of red to the buttons and cheeks. Used a treat bag with the cellophane window removed to frame the image, with a beautiful teal  background paper to show off the teal ink on the image. So pretty. Finished with a red bow and sentiment printed off on my computer. (The red ribbon and bow, plus cookie, allows me to enter it into the challenge at SumMoreFun.)

  6. Your tag is gorgeous Kathy, the embossing and distressing gives it a beautiful, vintage look. I really like the addition of the strip of vellum with your sentiment as well as the little beads and floss.
I love the snowman card with the collection of different snowflakes behind him, the blue and white colour scheme is wonderful. You did a great job cutting, stamping and embossing all those flakes... the effort was worth it!
"Izzy" is a cute little stamp and I love the way you've coloured her. The fur around her coat looks very soft and luxurious and her lantern shines with a wonderful soft glow.
The teal, brown and red colour scheme on your last card is fabulous Kathy, what a great combination! The gingerbread image is very sweet, and again, you've done a wonderful job with the colouring. I like the layers of ribbon you added too.
    Great work!
    Cheers,
