Spring and Sweet Desserts

For some reason, many photos on this post are not showing up. I cannot find a way to fix them... so will have to repost all of them. I will try to find time for that tonight. For now... I'm working from home and need to get back to it!

I was invited to be a guest DT for the Monday Greetings Challenge at Outlawz during March. Hetty Clare is the sponsor this month, and this is the last of three images that I’ll be sharing during the month. For this card, I used a sweet digi named “Flower Girl” to create a card to match the current theme of Geometric Shapes. (An exciting note- this sweet digi is on sale right now for 50% off, so only 97 cents. That is an amazing deal!) I used a Fiskars punch to make the geometric shapes super quickly. Then, I adhered each hexagon to a piece of Kraft cardstock with a touch of snail adhesive (because I used a Cuttlebug swirl embossing folder to really seal them together.)

One of  my favorite challenges is the Butterfly Challenge, where we learn new folds/techniques and can also win prizes!  The current challenge is “V for View-Master Card”. This was a new technique for me, but the step-by-step tutorial that is always provided was super easy to follow. I used a wonderful digi from artist Sherry West that makes me smile. It’s called “It’s a Spring Thing” and I love the happy little ring of bunnies. My card includes all three of the colors (Vegas Gold/Veridian/Vivid Burgundy) one of the themes (butterfly) and the technique.  I used two stickers from my scrapbook stash plus a few sparkly butterflies stickers on the View-Master. Two more sparkly butterflies adorn the inside sentiment. And, their bit-o-fluff tails are made by cutting a small white pompom into smaller pieces. Love the extra texture and whimsy!

I used another beautiful wonderful digi from artist Sherry West named “A Heart for You” for my final card this posting. I wanted to send a card to a dear friend that I haven’t seen for a few months and I’m really missing our coffee (and cheesecake, chocolate or ice cream) dates. I know she’ll love this sweet image and the sentiments, especially since I’m going to add a note that I’ll treat her to a dessert when we can finally go out for coffee again! This social isolation thingee is especially tough on those of us who are introverts!

Sunday Trio

I wanted to make one more square card to enter into the current Outlawz Monday challenge, and decided to also use the Outlawz Sketch challenge with  the adorable digi from Sherry West Art named “You Are Sombunny Special.” I printed off an extra copy of the cute little bunny and arms gently holding it, colored and fussy-cut them and adhered to the card front with foam tape to add some depth to the card.  Am entering this card into several challenges including Double D’s "Welcome Spring"(the background paper has small delicate tulips... plus Easter is a Spring holiday!)

This months Progressive Challenge at Outlawz provided a free digi from Sheepski Designs. Since I love artist Andrea Norris’ gnome drawings, including this one named “Giant Mushroom.” I used the “Spotlight Technique” to highlight the cute pair, using a scrapbook template to sketch a circle around them and colored within the circle. To help the colorful couple stand out even more, I used B&W paper and ribbon for the backgrounds. And, to add a bit more color to the inside sentiments, I perched a few of my favorite puffy heart stickers above the colored portion of the sentiment. So fun!

My final card for this post features a fun image from a Beccy’s Place digi set named “Bear With Me” (which is being retired soon… so available now for just $5.00) I printed the cute bear image onto Kraft cardstock, colored, fussy-cut and adhered him to an octagon shape on the front of a gatefold card front. The sentiments are computer-generated, and the final bit of fun was added with  sparkly Santa hat stickers.

A Trio Of Sweet Digis

It’s Friday, so time for another challenge at QKR Stampede!  Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself? My DT card features a cute digi images from Eureka Stamps and a sweet sentiment from QKR Stampede.  I love the sweet little puppy. Don’t you just want to scratch the top of his fuzzy little head?  I colored him with alcohol markers, adding some texture with the blender marker. I darkened his nose and added a few highlights with a white gel pen. I wanted to make it look like he was draped over a big wooden box. So I dug out some wood grain paper, cut it to size and attached the frame with staples to add a bit of realism. The final touch was to add some of my favorite embellies, puffy heart stickers.  I discovered these wonderful little gems last year at Walmart. (The pack contains 113 assorted puffy hearts for just 99 cents!)

I love this ladybug digi from Bugaboo, which I used for two current Bugaboo Challenges (Stella Says Sketch and BINGO: 3 layers, Bug image, Players Choice- I chose a B&W&Red color scheme.)  The front sentiment is from a wonderful Beccy’s Place digi set and the inside sentiment is from a yummy dig set from Imagine That! I trimmed the edge of a square paper lacy doily to create the pretty lacy trim, which allowed me to enter this card into the current Crash Your Stash Challenge at Outlawz.

My final card features an adorable snowman holding a sweet little birdie from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set. The large JOY sentiment is also from the digi set. I enlarged the sentiment  so that it would cover a large portion of an A2 card front, then printed it onto regular copy paper. I then attached the word to a scrap of snowflake paper and carefully cut it out before layering it onto black cardstock. After coloring the sweet snowman with alcohol markers, I fussy-cut the cutie and attached her to the front of the card with foam tape. After finishing the rest of the card and inside sentiment, I added the final touch… puffy heart stickers! (Okay, I have to fess up. I hadn’t planned to add the heart stickers. However, when I was coloring the little snowmiss, I discovered that a smudge of yellow ink on the paper I was using to protect my table had bled through her snowy white body. The result? It looked like a dog had… um… relieved himself on her! Ewwww! There was no way to remove the small yellow stain and I’d already done all the coloring on the image so I didn’t want to throw it away. My solution was to cover the stain with my favorite little puffy hearts. Easy peasy!)
 Supplies:
