Midweek Fun

I like making Christmas cards year-round, so the Rudolph Days Challenge and Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge are favorites of mine. I had fun using one of Jan’s Digi sets named “Over the River” to make an Upright Z-fold Christmas card (a link with instructions to this fold is provided below.) I decided to keep coloring to a minimum… but of course, I had to add a bit of bling by frosting the snow that festoons the beautiful old truck with microfine glitter.  I’m entering this card into several other challenges including two, Simon Says Monday and Power Poppy, that have a musical theme (I can’t get the “I’ll be home for Christmas” tune out of my head!) and Scribbles Designs Challenge “Say It With Snow” (living in Wisconsin, nothing says Christmas like SNOW!)

Supplies:
·    Digi and inside sentiment- Jan’s Digis set (Over the River )
·    Upright Z-fold Card Instructions can be found HERE.
·    Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·    Assorted cardstock and background paper from my stash
·    Sparkly holly stickers- from my mom’s stash (which I inherited!)

Scribbles Designs Challenge- #86 Say It With Snow

I am absolutely in love with this sweet digi named “My Best Friend” from All Dressed Up Stamps. It is the featured digi this month at the Outlaws Progressive Challenge. (I’ve picked up several free images through this challenge. It has one rule/offer… feature the digi provided in a papercrafted item, and you’ll automatically get the next months featured digi for free!) I colored the digi then layered it atop an oval cut from burgundy-colored cardstock and a larger oval cut from a wine-colored plastic document folder. (These wonderful items come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. I really like using them on my cards because they're cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  The plastic is easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors.) I’m entering this card into several other challenges including the Bugaboo Stamps color challenge (I included several shades of burgundy, red and pink, plus shades of gray) plus the Path of Positivity Challenge (I’m a dog lover and feel that nothing quite matches the excited welcome that our dogs always offered when I came home from work each day. They gave meaning to the words love and adoration. Although they crossed the rainbow bridge nearly two decades ago… but I still miss them!)

My final card for this posting features a cute digi set from Little Scraps of Heaven named “So Bright.” I printed the bear on kraft brown cardstock, then added some color and accents with vellum, a scrap of red plastic document folder (heart) and a silver marker. (I used the circle of vellum to make it look like the lightbulb is aglow… at least that was my intention!) I’m entering this card into several other challenges including Cute Card Thursday (I used a square card base and envelope.)
