Weekend Bounty

This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "Q" is Quiet.  To me walking in gently falling snow is one of my favorite things to do. Sounds are muted as large snowflakes dance and sway on their way to blanket the ground, trees, houses and also anyone that ventures out of doors. A gentle snowfall is beautiful and almost magical to experience. That is what I think Beccy captured in this image from her digi set named "Finn In The Snow." The sentiments are both computer generated [it was fun to find a Thoreau quote about snow that I hadn't heard before.] The snowflakes were made from my collection of punches plus I upcycled an acetate Godiva Chocolate box that held some wonderful snowflakes.  [Remember the brown ribbon that I used on a card last week? It was wrapped around this acetate box. I love saving beautiful things to use on my cards. So fun.] Am also entering this card into several other challenges, including the Cutie Pie Challenge "Winter Layers" because snow blankets the ground in layers.

Wanted to make a card for this week's Christmas challenge at The Paper Shelter [TPS]. Used a wonderful image from the digi set "Santa Selfie" and a  background from the TPS digi set "Snowboarder Girl." One reason that I love using digis is that you can print them off any size that you desire. For this card, I needed a regular sized image, plus three very small ones to fit into a wonderful film strip die from Marianne Design. The sentiment is a freebie from TLC [createwithtlc.blogspot.com]

Had seen a poster with this sentiment a while ago and made a card to match. At that time I had to sketch and fussy cut the crown from gold paper. However, when cleaning my craft room this weekend I found a pack of these wonderful crowns from Jolees and knew that I needed to make a card for the current Simon Says Wednesday Challenge, "All That Glitters is Gold." Because I try to conserve colored ink in our printer  [the thing seems to devour color cartridges], I opted for an smaller sized image, attaching it to the card with gold photo corners. I did add additional pink and purple gems to the crown to raise the bling factor. And because… well… it's a crown!

  1. Great sentiment on your first card Kathy, love it. You've done an awesome job adding all the wonderful snowflakes, great idea to save the acetate from the chocky box!
Love the selfie card... how fun is that?! Rudolph looks a little befuddled but good old Santa seems to know exactly where it's at! The background on this one is awesome, those big trees are really beautiful.
Your last card is a hoot! The crown is fabulous and I like the mix of gold and purple. Well done on three awesome cards!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
