This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "K" is Kraft paper. I printed a freebie image from Beccy's Place named "Christmas Lantern" [find it here- beccysplace.blogspot.com/2011/05/christmas-lantern.html] on kraft brown paper. Colored the flowers with Spectrum Noir markers and a white gel pen then fussycut them from the image. The sentiment on front of the card is from a Beccy's Place digi set "Baby Robin" and inside sentiment is from the "Blessings of the Season" digi set. The background paper and gold photo corners help add elegance to the card.

Made another card for all the Thanksgiving Challenges right now. For this one, I upcycled the images of wheat heads from a bakery box [Yes, I had to eat some donut holes to make this card. Don't judge. Sometimes art takes sacrifices. Heh heh!] The card went together pretty quickly with a few paper scraps, photo corners and a bit of butterscotch colored ribbon. The sentiment on the front is a freebie from TLC (createwithtlc.blogspot.com). The inside sentiment is from a Tlc Creates Vintage set named Faith and Hope [the 24 piece set is available for $2 from etsy.com/listing/577075748/faith-and-hope-word-sentiments]

The SumMore Fun challenge recently switched to a monthly format on FB that requires the use of their stamps only. The theme for November is "All Dressed Up." I decided to opt for an unusual interpretation of the challenge, using a beautiful Victorine Originals "Merry Christmas" stamp [that I recently won from the SumMore Fun site] and blinging it up to the max. Embossed the image in gold on white mulberry paper that has gold threads. Colored the holly and berries with Tombow Markers then filled in the images and letters with Tombow 2-way Glue pen [since the glue goes on blue and dries clear, I can easily see which sections I've finished. It also has a fairly fine tip for ease of placement in small areas.] Worked on ¼ of the card at a time, adding clear glitter and shaking off excess before moving on. Decided to add a bit more definition to the letters with a brown Spectrum Noir alcohol marker because I thought it would feather out a bit on the mulberry paper. Well… feather it did! I should have tried it on a scrap first. But I think that it does add a bit of drama to the card. Bling and drama? Sounds pretty dressed up to me. What a clever idea Kathy, I wouldn't have thought to remove the foliage from around the lantern image. Your design looks fantastic! You really did a wonderful job with the colouring.
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate a woman who makes sacrifices for her art, and finishing some donut holes definitely sounds like hard work. The wheat image is wonderful, it was a great idea to upcycle it from packaging to a fabulous card, you really have a sharp eye for wonderful shapes and designs.
I wholeheartedly agree that bling and drama makes for a fabulously dressed up card Kathy. I really like the way the brown ink feathered on the mulberry paper, it's a really interesting look. Well done!
Cheers,
Beccy
