The Thursday challenge at wecraftcards was to make a verticle rstep card. I found instructions on Pinterest [stempeleinmaleins.blogspot.com/2012/12/vertikale-treppenkarte-vertical-step.html] started creatin'. After I got it cut and folded, I thought the step looked odd with the tops "open" but couldn't figure out how to NOT have the holes in the steps. I tried flipping the template every which way with no success. So... finally flipped the card and used it in a very different way. The verticle steps became a "support brace" for a swirly foilage die cut. I kinda like the way it turned out so was time well spent. I added a closeup of the inside so you can see the sentiment tucked up under the "stairs." [Actually, thought about making this into a card depicting my favorite reading place as a child- in the basement under the stairwell. I had an old bean bag chair [the kind that leaked little white styrofoam beads EVERYWHERE] and a small table with a lamp. I spent many hours there reading about Nancy Drew's exciting life.
The Bugaboo Digi Stamps image is from Bugaboo [named "Autumn Squirrel" and the two sentiments are from a retired Power Poppy digi set named "Autumn Opulence."
Am entering this card into a few challenges including Bugaboo's current color challenge. My card includes the orange and peachy colors, plus green-gray foliage and navy blue backing cardstock which adds both color and strength.

It's November, and that means that Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place is helping us get some card making completed for Christmas by hosting the 6th annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge. This is my second year participating and am thrilled to get started. My first card, which is to be inspired by the letter A, is an A-frame card. I used one of Beccy's freebies, a wonderful Christmas stocking [find it here- beccysplace.blogspot.com/2016/11/day-16-freebie-time.html] and swapped the ornaments in the original digi with the little bear from the Beccy's Place digi set named "Tea Time." The sentiment on the inside of the card is from a Beccy's Place set named "Blessings of the Season."

Power Poppy's November challenge is named "Give Thanks" and is to feature a Thank you or Thanksgiving themed project. I decided to make an elegant Thanksgiving card that I'll send to my MIL. Used the gorgeous floral image and two sentiments from the Power Poppy digi set named "Autumn Opulence" to make my card. Created the background of the card with a few layers of paper including scrapbook paper with photos of vintage lace. On top of that I attached a "frame" created with several squares of different colored paper. On top of this I placed the autumn bouquet, printed on vellum. I colored the image with Spectrum Nior markers using a variation of the spotlight technique, coloring only the portion of the image that fell within the framed area on the card front.
