This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "C" is Candle with its comforting glow. The window and sentiments for this card are all from the Beccy's Place digi set named "Seasonal Windows." I printed off two of the images, one was the complete scene, the other image was cropped to just include the window. I used an Exacto knife to cut the panes from the window [in the full scene] then colored the scene with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I attached a strip of acetate "glass" to the back of the image with clear tape. Colored the candle in the small window print and mounted it behind the larger scene with foam tape. Layered the sentiments onto strips of cardstock and attached them. Then I punched assorted sizes of snowflakes and added them to the front and inside of the card.

If you've followed my blog for a while you'll know that I love upcycling and I love collecting freebie images. For this card, which features a cute scarecrow digi from Bugaboo and hay bale stamp from Art Impressions, I upcycled an invitation from a fall event held at our church last year and the background subway art is a freebie from TLC (createwithtlc.blogspot.com) I wanted to mute the background a bit so that the scarecrow would take center stage so I layered an A2 sized piece of orange plastic document folder. [I use these almost as often as vellum… which I use a lot. You can find them in office supply stores. They come in a pack of assorted colors, are easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors and are translucent like colored vellum.] Am posting this to several challenges including CAS-usal Fridays photo challenge [my card includes leaves], AZ scrapbooking and Power Poppy Give Thanks [the subway art includes several things for which I am thankful including apple cider and pumpkins.

My final card for this challenge uses a vintage PSX rubber stamp and assorted items from my stash to create a collage card. I added a freebie butterfly that I printed on vellum, fussy cut and then attached to the card with a bit of foam tape. [found here what-a-beautiful-mess.blogspot.com/2013/04/scraps-of-elegance.html) Entering this card into the Simon Says challenge named "Take Flight" and also the Butterfly challenge, where I followed the color theme [green and gold.]
