Special Days

This  entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "D" is Deep Red. The image and sentiment on the card front is from a Beccy's Place digi set named "Finn's Scarf." Inside sentiment is from a stamp I picked up in the dollar bin at Michaels many years ago. The snowflakes are made with a slowly growing collection of snowflake punches.[I love winter… and all that it brings including comfy sweaters and scarves, hot chocolate, snowflakes and especially CHRISTMAS!

I needed a baby shower card and decided to go with non-traditional baby card colors… mainly because the soon to be parents are both Minnesota Viking fans so they'll love the purple and gold. The sentiment on the front and inside are both computer generated. The footprint and handprint rubber stamps that were used to create the background on the front left side of the gatefold card are no longer on the wood blocks so am not sure who made/makes them, possibly Hero Arts? The sweet little rubber ducky is a wood mount rubber stamp from Rubber Stampedes Suzie's Zoo collectibles.

With Christmas coming up and thinking that this fun fold will come in handy as a gift card holder. For now, I used the simple fold to make a holder for a few tea bags that I'll be giving to one of my staff members next week. She worked above and beyond the call of duty the last few months during a transition time between grants when we've been short staffed. I am so very thankful for her amazing generosity and teamwork.  [Instructions for the fold can be found here www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu3AOFcdk8Q] I created the leaves by stamping the image with a rubber stamp from Embossing arts with tan ink on kraft brown paper. When dry, I fussy cut the leaves sketched some veins with a deep red marker and sponged several autumn shades of red, rust, orange and a bit of brown haphazardly on the leaves. The sentiment is a freebie [from decossesdynamitedoodles.blogspot] After the card was completed, I added a few touches of bling with copper-colored Nuvo Crystal drops.

  2. Awesome cards Kathy, well done! You did a great job colouring the little penguin, his fabulous red scarf sure looks snuggly and warm.
You did a wonderful job personalising the baby shower card, the purple and yellow look great together and I'm sure the expectant parents will love it! How could they resist those cute little hand and foot prints and the sweet poem?!
It's very kind of you to make a teabag card for one of your staff members, I'm sure she'll really appreciate the gesture, especially after receiving something as nice as this.
    Cheers,
    Beccy
