Photogenic Elf

It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. . Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! (pennyschallenges.blogspot.com)
This week, I used a Cute As A Button fun image named "Elf Selfie" (you can find it here- cuteasabuttonstamps.com) I decided to use just a portion of the digi to show one of the benefits of digis- being able to adjust size and content. I also wanted just the elf portion of the stamp, and with a digi I could easily crop the reindeer from the image before printing it off. Kept the front of the card pretty simple, putting the sentiment inside of a filmstrip section on the inside of the card. [That sentiment is from a Bugaboo set of digis named "Winter Bears."] The filmstrip die from Marianne Designs.

This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "L" is [naughty] List. The cute little anxious bird image [his name is Wilson] is from a Beccy's Place digi set "Feathered Friends." Found the freebie naughty list image via a google search [download it here- blog.wackyjacquisdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Naughty-List-Notice.pdf] The sentiments are computer generated. Not sure who will receive this card, but I have several likely candidates that would enjoy it. Am thinking it will go to my youngest sister, Judi, because it will give her a laugh. [Not that it personally represents her or anything? Ha.]

My final entry into the "If You Give a Crafter a Cookie" challenge with the theme "Baby" is a truly handmade one. If you follow my blog, you'll know that I enjoy upcycling. One of my favorite saves from the trash can is business envelopes. There are so many wonderful black and white and grayscale designs just being tossed. Well… not at my house! [Just ask my hubby if this is the truth. He now checks with me before throwing them away. He is a sweetie… although he does groan/whine about it a bit. Ha.]  Anyway, I digress. I need a card for an upcoming baby shower and on Pinterest saw one with a little elliephant made from a punch. I decided to sketch a large ellie that I could make from an upcycled envelope that I think resembles an elephants hide. Made the base of the card with a large scrap of patterned paper, a scrap of pink ribbon, and a computer generated sentiment. After putting it all together, on a gate-fold card, the design felt like it was missing something… until I added a few little punched hearts rising from the cuties raised trunk. Because, he is heralding a love-filled reason for celebration, right?

  3. Love the elf selfie card Kathy, what a great image set. The little elf taking the photo is super cute by itself, but the film strip with his picture just seals the deal. So clever!
I had a chuckle at the "Department of Naughty List" on your second card, that's pretty funny. I know a few people who would also get a kick out of it.
The little elephant on your third card is lovely! The grey upcycled envelope was a great choice for his body, well done to Rich for keeping them aside for you.
    Cheers,
    Beccy
