Mistletoe

This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "U" is Under the Mistletoe. This sweet little owl image [her name is Ophelia] is from a Beccy's Place digi set named "You're a Hoot." The mistletoe image is from the set "Tied Up With String" and sentiment on the front of the card is from a Beccy's Place digi set named "Sweet Shoppe." The inside sentiment is a sticker from my stash. Also, since one of my new goals is to try to decorate the inside sentiment to match the front the card, I printed, colored and fussy-cut a extra bow from the mistletoe and attached it to the inside sentiment. A little tedious, but I like how it dresses up an otherwise boring sticker.

Is fun to see a few Fall themed challenges still pop up again. It’s a sign that winter isn't quite here… yet. [At least for my little part of the world.] I used this sentiment on a card a few years ago.  It makes me smile with its childlike wisdom. Used my favorite Embossing Arts Leaf stamp and an old- but thankfully not yet dried out- Autumn Kaleidoscope ink pad to create the wonderful fall coloring. I got some wonderful second generation images by stamping a few times before re-inking. Then, added touches of bling by adding tiny drops of Nuvo Crystal drops in rich fall colors. Am entering this into several challenges including CAS-ual Fridays "Shades of Gold" [opting for non-metallic shades of gold in the leaves and metallic gold and bronze in the Nuvo drops.]

Used a wonderful digi image from The Paper Shelter named "Yep I Have My Methods" to make this Diagonal Trifold card. Found the info on Pinterest [template is here- lavenderthoughts.com/2009/12/29/trifold-angle-card-tutorial]. Printed off, colored and then fussy-cut the Santa, the adhered him to the front of the card. I wanted to have the balloon look like it was floating in space so cut a thin strip of acetate to work as an invisible support brace. The sentiment visible when the card is closed is a freebie from TLC [createwithtlc.blogspot.com] and the inside sentiment is from a Beccy's Place digi set named "Keeping It Simple."

  1. The owl card is awesome Kathy, love the vellum! You did a wonderful job colouring both the mistletoe and the little bird. Love the speech bubble and the way you've added an extra string ribbon on the inside.
Your autumn-themed card is great... love the sentiment! The colours are gorgeous, I love the variation on each leaf. The little Nuvo drops add great texture and detail to your project.
The last card in this post is fabulous, love the fold. The cute Santa is coloured beautifully and looks great against the black card stock. Great sentiments too. Well done on all three cards!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
