Holiday Trio

This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge is for the color challenge on Day 5. I love the rich colors in this palette which worked perfectly with a freebie image from Beccy's Place named "Berry Wreath" [Find it here- beccysplace.blogspot.com/2010/12/berry-wreath.html]
The yummy dark brown ribbon is upcycled from a gift box of Godiva Chocolates. [Which my sweet hubby gave me a while ago. The chocolates are long gone but the ribbon was tucked away in my stash.]  Sentiments are both from Beccy's Place digi set "The Nativity."

The new Simon Says Wednesday challenge is named "All That Glitters is Gold." I knew that I wanted to do gold embossing so pulled out an Embossing Arts "Joy" stamp that always gives a nice clear impression. Stamped it with gold pigment ink on vellum, heated then trimmed finished sentiment with Fiskars decorative scizzors. Added a scrap of white and gold ribbon and a piece of a corrugated gold paper from my stash [have had it since 2000 or 2001 so don't have a clue about the company.] The inside sentiment is computer generated.

Used three rubber stamps that I pulled apart many years ago to use with acrylic blocks to make this card.  I think they are from an old [like early 2000 old] Stampin Up set.  Stamped the front image and sentiment on kraft cardstock with dark brown ink. Added a bit of color with chalks, trimmed the edges with a Fiskars deco edge scissors and added a little distressing with brown ink. Attached a bit of the dark brown [Godiva Chocolate box] ribbon across two corners, added a bit of red raffia and metal leaf charms that I've had in my stash forever. Stamped another of the SU images on a scrap for the inside of the card. Colored it with chalks, trimmed and layered it. The inside sentiment is from Power Poppy's digi set named "Autumn Opulence."

  1. Love the luscious brown ribbon Kathy, it's a fabulous addition on your kraft based card. You've done a wonderful job colouring the wreath and I really like the sentiment swag.
Your gold card is gorgeous, that "Joy" stamp is really crisp and clear. The embossed background gives your card lot of awesome texture. Well done on finishing the centre of the card, that's something I'm not too good at doing.
The Thanksgiving card is wonderful, the mix of images is lovely. I also like the way you've tucked in all the sequin leaves, they add some fabulous shine to the design.
    Cheers,
    Beccy
