Frosty Photo

This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "P" is Picture [of baby Frosty.] I've had this fun sentiment in my files for many, many years but have only used it once before. Figured that this challenge was the perfect [another "p" word] reason to use it again. The wonderful image of snow People [final "p" word… I promise. Oops, that "p" word slipped right past me] is a freebie from Beccy's Place named Family Reunion [find it here- beccysplace.blogspot.com/2011/11/family-reunion.html] I learned how to make snowflakes in art class back in 6th grade and love snipping away making blizzards of them. A few years ago decided I wanted to make more intricate snowflakes and found several links via Pinterest that helped me in that task. Although I'm getting better, these patterns are still way beyond my skill level. Let's just consider mine to be "simplified versions" as I use fewer snips. Here is a link for making a basic 6 point snowflake [msmoffattsnowflakes.blogspot.com] and a link to the patterns that I'm aspiring to one day duplicate [szinesotletek.blog.hu/2012/12/12/hopihemintak_papirbol]

This is my third entry into the monthly challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH) that focuses on Thanksgiving or Snowman images. For this card, I used a freebie image from last year named "Snowman with Sled." [This was a freebie last December. It doesn't appear to be available at present but there are many other snowman images on the site- littlescrapsofheavendesigns.com] I colored the little cutie with Spectrum Noir markers and a white gel pen. Am entering the card in several other challenges:  card layout is from the current Sketch Saturday challenge; card elements were influenced by the current Bugaboo Bingo challenge [diagonal up from lower left- Ribbon, Embossing, and Charm]; swirled background embossing looks like swirled frosting, influenced by current photo at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie challenge; and The Cutie Pie Challenge [because the card is definitely cute.] The cute little sentiment tag [the pink color matches his nose] is from my scrapbook stash.

I used the Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Butterfly clear stamp set to make another card for the current Butterfly Challenge that focuses on the Letter R. My card includes one color- Rose Pink and one theme- Recycle [I trimmed the delicate embossed frame from a used Thank-you card.] Added some shading to the large butterfly with a gray Spectrum Noir marker and added details to its body and antennae with a Sharpie fine-line black marker.

  3. What a great card Kathy! I'm embarrassed to say that it took me a few seconds to figure out the joke, but I laughed out loud when I did! How fabulous.
The snowman on the second card is adorable. He looks like he's shy and hiding his face behind the sled... or perhaps he's been naughty and run through someone's garden??? Love the big brown ribbon and the wonderful embossing.
Great upcycling on your third card Kathy, the frame was definitely worth saving. The big pink butterfly is very pretty and you sure did a wonderful job adding some additional details. Great job!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
