Fall and Winter Beauties

It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog.  Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! (pennyschallenges.blogspot.com)
This week, one of the sponsors is Patties Creations. I used one of their wonderful images named "Butterflies in Reeds" for my card. [You can find it here- www.etsy.com/shop/pattiescreations] Created a cloud background with chalks, a template cut from a scrap of cardboard, and a makeup sponge. Wanted to add some texture to the card, so dug through my stash to see if I had any brown flocking to glue to the cattails. I didn't. However, I did have white flocking that I could color with brown chalk. I scraped some chalk from a brown chalk square, scrubbed it into the white flocking and then glued the combo onto the cattails. They ended up having the look of cattails that are starting to molt. THAT is realism!

This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "F" is Friend. I love the innocent sweetness created by this Beccy's Place image from the  digi set named "New Friends." I colored the image with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, fussy cut and adhered it to an upcycled calendar page. [Don't you love the look of the delicate pastel coloring of the background against the bright colors of the two friends clothing?] Added soft texture by gluing Polar White Flower Soft to the little guys hood, cuffs and boot tops. Attached sentiments from the digi set, adding snowflake patterned paper behind the sentiment on the insde, and then finished the card with snowflakes made with assorted punches.

  1. I'm very impressed by your home-made flocking Kathy, now that's thinking on your feet! I think you totally pulled it off too. The image is lovely and you've coloured it beautifully.
Your second card is super sweet and the flower soft looks great around the little child's collar and cuffs. Love the addition of the snowflakes and the wonderfully decorated interior. Great job!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
