Christmas Eve

This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "O" is Owls. I created the background by first making a circle mask from a post-it note. Attached that to an A2 sized piece of white cardstock, then sponged it with several ink colors then spritzed it with both water and Tattered Angels silver Glimmer mist, quickly dabbing off any of the excess. I then removed the mask and set the background aside to dry.
While it was drying, I colored one of Beccys Freebies with Spectrum Noir markers [you can find it here- beccysplace.blogspot.com/2013/08/owls-freebie.html]
I fussy cut the owl's image, then finished the background by adding a scattering of stars with a white gel pen, plus used an old All Night Media "Santa and his Sleigh" stamp to add a black silhouette against the white moon. I added a tiny red rhinestone on the nose of the front reindeer, the one that we know as Rudolph. The trees, a Stampscapes wood mount stamp   [Pines and Rocks #195G] were added with black ink. The sentiments on front and inside are both computer generated. [Note- some of us here in the Midwest do call something a "hoot and a half" when it's appropriate, ie- very, very fun/funny.]

The current Butterfly challenge focuses on the letter R. My card includes all three colors- Rose Pink [in background colors and large circle], Royal Blue [butterfly and blue circle on front of the card, and Ruby [small dot on front of the card and butterfly on the inside] and all three themes- Round [cut circles on front of the card], Repeat [circles plus chicken wire shapes in background] and Recycle [the beautifully colored background on the front was upcycled from a card that a friend recently sent to me- Thanks, Golda!] Since the sentiments I added are about wishes I can also enter the card into the current Double D's Challenge. The front sentiment is a freebie from Desert Diva [desertdiva-hannelie.blogspot.com] and inside sentiment is a freebie from TLC [createwithtlc.blogspot.com]

This is my second entry into the monthly challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH) with the theme of Thanksgiving or Snowman. I used this weeks freebie named "Juggling Snowman" to make this card. [find it here until Nov 18th-littlescrapsofheavendesigns.com/pages/free-file.htm] Paper pieced the little guy from a frosted white cardstock. His arms are made from some wrapped wire I had in my stash that looks like little branches. The sentiment is from a Beccy's Place digi set named "New Friends."

  1. Wow Kathy, what a great card! I LOVE your background, the big moon looks like it's shining brightly on Christmas eve. You really did a wonderful job with it, it even has a halo. You also did a great job colouring the owls, their feathers are fabulous. Love the sentiment too.
Love all the colours on the butterfly card, such a pretty background. Adding a beautiful butterfly on the inside of the card is a nice touch too.
The snowman on your last card is fabulous, I love those little stick arms! You've done a great job of fussy cutting the different elements. Well done Kathy!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
