myasperations 2-11-22

It’s Friday... time for the Colour Crazy Challenge. This challenge is “Anything Goes” but it adds a requirement; the creation needs to include coloring in “any colouring medium you like, onto any project you like, and in any colours you like.” I’ve never outgrown my love for coloring, which is why making cards is therapy for me!
This week's sponsor is Jan’s Digi Stamps and my DT card uses a lovely digi and sentiments from a  set named Tea Time. I printed the vintage image on white cardstock and used Spectrum Noir Classique Markers and a white Sakura Gelly Roll gel pen to add some contrast and highlights. Scraps from the patterned paper I’ve had in my stash for at least a decade are a perfect fit for this digi. A bow made from a bit of pale pink ribbon, silver photo corners, and a few little purple flowers fussy-cut from the background paper provides a few embellishments.
Supplies:
·   Digi and sentiments- Jan’s Digi Stamps (Tea Time)
·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Silver photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   Pink ribbon, cardstock, and patterned paper, from my stash.

I haven’t used this wood mount stamp for a few decades… but after I discovered it in my stash a few weeks ago, I just had to make a few cards. This is my second using a Penny Black Cat stamp. I fussy-cut the little furball again, but this time I took the advice from a commenter and didn’t cut around all those whiskers. Instead, I drew them in after adhering the cat to the card front. Easy-Peasy!

Supplies:

·   Rubber Stamp- Penny Black Cat with Heart (no longer available)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen, and Sharpie black permanent fine-line marker

·   Patterned paper-Hobby Lobby

·   Front Sentiment-True Love Sticker from my Scrapbook Stash.

·   Inside sentiment- Eureka Digital Stamp (Happy Valentine’s Day) Also available in unmounted or cling-mounted

myasperations 2-9-22

I am honored to have served as a Guest Designer for Beccy Muir at Beccy’s Place and am now one of her “Contributors” (which means that she provides me with digis or clear stamp sets several times a year and I get to create cards or other items with them!) It is always fun to see the images Beccy invites me to use.  This time, the digi and sentiments are all from a just-released set named Nuts ‘N’ Bolts.
I love that Beccy names each of her characters and the name of this robot, Clang, makes me giggle. I really liked Beccy's pre-colored Clang, especially because of how his bright purple coloring compliments the yellow-green background paper from my scrapbook stash. After I used an oval template to create layering on the card and added the sentiments, I thought the card was lacking something.  After a little unsuccessful experimenting, I noticed a wad of cotton on my work table, and an idea went off in my brain. A robot named Clang is sure to love churning up a bit of exhaust or dust when making a fast get-away, right?! Plus, the cotton, some ultra-fine gold glitter on the robot's dashboard, and metallic silver cardstock add a fun texture to the card.
Supplies:

·   Pre-colored Digi and Sentiments from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Nuts ‘N’ Bolts)

·   Shading and highlights added with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen, and Pentel Silver marker

·   Gears patterned paper and oval templates from my scrapbook stash.

·   Cardstock, ultra-fine gold glitter, and small cotton wad from my stash.

Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge- February

It’s been a super busy month, suffering from COVID plus staff resignations followed by interviews. Whew! Was glad to have a bit of time to color… especially making Valentine's cards. This one features a beautiful digi set from Beccy’s Place. I loved coloring the wood ice bucket with markers, then adding a bit of “weathering” with a white colored pencil.  If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll know that I love finding treasures in the clearance aisles at Hobby Lobby, JoAnnes, plus assorted thrift stores. The wonderful Gold Foiled front of this card was cut from a packet of clearance News Year’s Party invitations (for 75% off!) Strips of gold-foiled trimmed from one of the invites are added to the inside sentiment.  And of course, what celebration is complete without some glitter… this time brought to you by stickers (that are shedding slightly.)

Supplies:

·   Digi from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Champagne)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen and white colored pencil

·   Sparkly Hearts Stickers:- Hobby Lobby

·   Front Sentiment- Gold Foiled Party invitations from Hobby Lobby

·   Inside sentiment- “Happy Valentine’s Day”- Hero Arts (retired)

·   Circle templates from my scrapbook stash.

·   Cardstock (Metallic Gold and Tan Parchment), and small cotton wad from my stash.

myasperations 2-4-22

It’s Friday and time for the Colour Crazy Challenge. This challenge is also an “Anything Goes” but it adds a requirement; the creation needs to include coloring in “any colouring medium you like, onto any project you like, and in any colours you like.” I’ve never outgrown my love for coloring… which is why making cards is stress therapy for me!!
This week's sponsor is All Dressed Up and my DT card features a sweet digi from All Dressed Up Stamps named Birthday Girl. I printed the little cutie on white cardstock and used Spectrum Noir Classique Markers and Sakura Gelly Roll gel pens to add color, sparkle, shading, and highlights. I love how the sentiment “Glitter Girl” from We Are 3 fits so well with this digi. especially when paired with glittery heart stickers, brightly patterned paper, and both black and shining silver photo corners.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, and heart challenges all over the web, I just had to dig out a favorite old (like maybe from the ‘90s) Penny Black cat stamp! I decided to fussy-cut the little furball, which was a major task with all those whiskers, but he does look adorable perched atop a large heart.  A few sentiments and some bling, of course, and this card is ready to hit the mail!

·   Rubber Stamp- Penny Black Cat with Heart (no longer available)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

Beccy’s Place Challenge- February
Since I’m a Contributor for Beccy’s Place, I’m entering just for fun!

This card is my first entry into the Butterfly Challenge, which is one of my favorite challenges!  Each challenge offers several themes that we can use as our guide, plus a specific creative fold that we can use if desired.  The current challenge is to create a Collar Fold Card and sponsor, Mrs. A, provides easy-to-follow instructions.  My card includes all four of the colors (Coral, Celadon, Cornflower, Cardinal) and the required butterfly! (The vellum layer was first cut into a circle, to fit the theme, but I wanted more of the pretty patterned background to show through, so I opted for an oval. I do love using vellum to help the key feature, in this case the butterfly and friend, stand out!)
I’m entering it in several other challenges including Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge (used the required blue, plus peach and pink from the inspiration  photo. Twist is the butterfly!), Outlaws Saturday “Send Some Sunshine” (everything about this card makes me think of spring and sunshine!)  and All Dressed Up FB Challenge (my card, especially the inside sentiment, reflects romance!)
Supplies:
·   Digi- All Dressed Up (Flyaway Butterfly)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Inside Sentiment- “You make my heart sing” (unknown source- if you recognize it, please let me know!).

·   Collage Patterned paper from a box of A2 cards with white envelopes- Hobby Lobby

·   Gold photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   Vellum, oval template, and other items from my stash.

myasperations 2-1-22

Since it’s the first of the month, I get to share a DT card for QKR Stampede. Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself?
This is the first time I used the striking sentiment on a card… and I decided to print it off large enough for the front of an A2-sized card.  A template from my scrapbook stash helped me to frame the sentiment with a perfectly sized heart. The delicate and frilly butterfly digi is a freebie, and I love how its wings hold small hearts that mimic the hearts on the sentiment’s music notes. A second butterfly embellishes the inside sentiment which is one of my favorites for so many occasions and seasons. (I am so thankful for so many special friends and family members who regularly bless my days!)
Supplies:

·   Front Sentiment- Eureka Digital Stamp (Life Is the Song) Also available in unmounted or cling-mounted

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, and Sakura Gelly Roll white & gold gel pens

·   Butterfly Digi-Freebie from www.thetoymaker.com (Heart Butterfly)

·   Inside Sentiment- Eureka Digital Stamp (I Am So Thankful) Also available in unmounted or cling-mounted

·   Pioneer Black Photo corners- available from several sources

·   Patterned Papers- Hobby Lobby

·   Cardstock, heart template, metallic bronze paper, and all other items from my stash.

Outlawz Challenge- Festive Friday (Anything Goes)

The first of the month also means that it’s time to share my DT card for the monthly challenge on the Sheepski Designs Blog. The theme is “Use Some Red” and the Party Shoes on this beautiful digi were so fun to “bling up” with red micro-glitter. The B&W “If the shoe fits…” patterned paper provided a perfect background (and it’s a freebie!) Striking party shoes require an elegant party dress. I decided to go for a white dress, first adding light shading to the folds, then adding the look of a lace-over-satin with my trusty white gel pen. (It really is one of my favorite card-making tools!) Red cardstock, black striped vellum, and a delightful computer-generated quote from Dorothy, who once rocked her new sparkly red heels in Oz, finished out the card.
Supplies:

·   Digi- Sheepski Designs (Party Shoes)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment/background paper- “If the shoe fits…” eyeletoutlet.blogspot.com from the Freebies Section HERE

·   Inside Sentiment- Computer Generated

·   Cardstock, black striped vellum, red micro-glitter, and other items from my stash.
