myasperations 8-13-25

I’m honored to be invited back to be a guest designer for the Word Art Wednesday Challenges in August. This is my first card for the month, featuring the current scripture from Deuteronomy, which proclaims many of the attributes of God. Amen and Amen!
The card base features a muted watercolor scene from a set of boxed cards and envelopes that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. The elegant border across the top of the card is fussy-cut from the frame of an old certificate (I have a ton of them after attending and/or presenting at dozens of conferences over the past 40 years!) The anchor is a much-loved digi from Beccy’s Place that fits so beautifully with scripture sentiments.

Supplies:

·   Front Sentiment- Scripture Digi- from Word Art Wednesday post (8-13-25)

·   Painted Landscape Cards- Watercolor backgrounds from a set of boxed cards and Envelopes-Hobby Lobby

·   Anchor digi- from a Beccy’s Place Digi set that is sadly, no longer available. (Business recently changed to clear stamps/wholesale only)

·   Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Marvy silver marker, and Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

I created this card for the new challenge at the We Craft Cards Forum that requires layering of embellishments. I wasn’t sure of the theme I’d use until I found an envelope full of school-related items: stickers, scrapbook headings, and ephemera. So… I went with a schoo theme so that I could enter the card into the August Colorful Options Monthly Challenge,. Their mood/board is a wonderful vintage photo collage in which the school items fit beautifully!
Supplies:

·   Digi-Freebie from Graphics Fairy (Vintage School-Children Silhouette)

·   Front Sentiment- “You Are Awesome” freebie from skogstokiga.blogspot.com (Sadly, blog is now closed)

·   Stack Of Books-from Beccy’s Place Digi set that is sadly, no longer available. (Business recently changed to clear stamps/wholesale only)

·   All other embellishments layered onto the silhouette are from my stash of stickers, ephemera and scrapbook/journal toppers

·   Inside Sentiment-Computer Generated

·   Checkered border with sliced apple- from a boxed set of thank you notes I found at a thrift store

·   “I love teaching” image- back when I first started stamping, I stamped several dozen of these images and made them into pins for teacher friends. I found a few of them when de-cluttering so decided to put this one to work!

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

This card is my final entry into the Bee Happy challenge at Double D’s. Over the years, I have received several email newsletters from talented teachers and moms who create and provide craft projects for kids. The adorable circle-round bees on this card are from one of these emails. The only change I made to the instructions was to make the wings out of vellum and texture them with markers, a gel pen, and Stickles. The background “mat” took some time to make with paper scraps/strips, but I do like the way it turned out. All the other items used are detailed in my supply list!

Supplies:

·   Strips of patterned paper trimmed from my stash of scraps were woven together for the background

·   Beehive Craft for Kids- Free from “In the Bag Kids Crafts” HERE

·   Vellum wings- Shaded with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, highlighted with Sakura Gelly Roll white  gel pen

·   Bee Antennae added with Sharpie Black Permanent Fine-Line Marker

·   Stickles- Diamonds (to add sparkle to wings)

·   Front Sentiment- Strips of BZZZ patterned paper- Hobby Lobby

·   Inside Sentiment- “Buzzing By just to say Hi”  from SnapClickSupply.com (Sweet As Can Bee Word Art)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

I'll email you privately with details, but he's recovering nicely. I praise God for you in so many ways.....your fellowship, friendship, prayers, art and so much more. Thanks again for being my GDT the past two months. My cup runneth over. Hugs.

  4. Beautiful cards, Kathy! I love how you used boxed cards on the first one. They're gorgeous and fit the sentiment so well. Very clever using an old certificate! It looks great! And that anchor looks real. I thought it was a charm at first! Great job! :)

  7. You have made three great cards, so creative to use an old certificate. I can't get over the anchor being a Digi. I thought it was a metal embellishment. The third card must of took a while using those paper strips. I have wanted to try something like that before. I have a container of strips; I just haven't gotten around to trying it. The bees are so cute!
    Have a great day!
