myasperations 8-16-25

For some reason, the fonts on this blog are all wonky! And I'm tired of trying to fix it. So... sorry in advance!

A few back-to-school challenges are going on right now… hence this card! It features a wonderful vintage school image from 49 and Market that I trimmed to fit the front of a 5x7 card. I’ve been collecting  school-themed ephemera, stickers, scrapbook images, and toppers for many years. I don’t have a clue where most are from! A scattering of star stickers from the local dollar store adds a bit of bling to the inside sentiment.
Supplies:
·   49 and Market - Academia Collection Paper Pack (Available via several sources on the web)
·   Front Sentiment- Computer Generated
·   Inside Sentiment- from a Beccy’s Place Digi set that is sadly, no longer available. (Business
recently changed to clear stamps/wholesale only)
·   Shine star stickers- from the local dollar store.
·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.
·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

I picked up a wonderful paper pack from Not2Shabby last summer and used it to make watermelon cards with a template I found on Pinterest. (The slices were so easy and fun to make that I made them in 7 sizes!) I found this final slice when decluttering, so am putting it to use to make a lip gloss (gift) holder for a teen friend who LOVES watermelon (if you look closely, you'll notice that it's also the flavor of the lipgloss!)
I’m entering this card into several challenges, including Park Hopping-My Happy Place (This is one of my favorite challenges and has helped me to develop a bucket list of parks I want to visit before I…um… kick the bucket! I googled “Theme Parks with Watermelon” and found one that sounds like fun.  Wild Adventures in GA has a Watermelon Eating Contest every summer, and even the animals that live there enjoy the sweet treat. See a photo HERE!)
Supplies:
·   Watermelon slices made with Not2Shabby 6x6 paper pack (Watercolor Cuties)
·   Template and instructions for making Watermelon slices found HERE

·  Heart-shaped seeds were added to the watermelon with a Sharpie Permanent black marker and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   One in a Melon Sentiment was found on Pinterest (No longer available, but if you search “Free Printable- one in a melon” there are many others to chose from!)

·   Sentiment colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

This card features a sweet image from Tiddly Inks named Something Warm, which is one of my favorite freebies! You can find the link in my supplies list below.) I colored the snowman and perched him atop a circle of snowflake-embossed vellum.     I’m entering this card into several challenges including Time Out (I was inspired by the coffee and the blue background in the inspiration photo, and the white vellum gives a whispy look that resembles the clouds), and the ABC Christmas Challenge- ('Q is for Quick' If you follow my blog, you’ll know that my cards using include lots of coloring, fussy-cutting, and embellishing… often all three! This card with little coloring and cutting, plus the only embellishment was sketching four little steam wisps on the vellum. So, it really did go together quickly!)

An added note: Christy Croll, the artist/owner of Tiddly Inks, closed her challenge blog a few years ago. She has maintained the blog site to provide access to coloring tutorials. plus several freebies (including this image) HERE, and also sells an assortment of digis in her Etsy shop HERE.
