This month’s Sheepski Designs FB Challenge theme is “Girls, Girls,
Girls” and I had fun creating my DT card using Andreas’ sweet mermaid
digi named “Hello.” This card was actually an experiment that turned out much
better than I had ever imagined. A while
ago I took a photo of one of my laptop screen savers because I wanted to try to
replicate the watery feeling someday in an undersea card. THIS is that card. I also posted the photo of the inspirational screen saver. After turning the
photo into a jpg, I used a freebie version of the Paint program to merge the
mermaid digi onto the undersea shot. I cropped
the image down a bit, copied and pasted it into a Word document, sized it to
fit an A2 card, printed it off, then colored the image with markers. The
final bit of artistic experimentation was to use a white colored pencil and white gel pen to make the
waves “come to life!” There were several times in the process that I thought
"Ugh... I ruined it now!" But, because things underwater can look hazy by
nature, my oopsies just added depth. Win-Win! I finished the card with a Z-fold
base, sentiments, and an extra set of cute little seahorses to add a bit of color
and playful whimsy to the inside of the card. (Oh, and I added the Sheepski watermark
to the photo of the digi merged atop the screensaver because I wanted to post it
to my blog to help explain my process. But I also wanted to protect Andrea's
wonderful artwork.)

I’m
entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge-
Blue Green Orange (My shade of orange is more of a tangerine/peach on her
bathing suit top… but I hope that counts? If not, feel free to bump my card
from contention for a prize. Thanks! Oh, and I did add a bit of sparkle/bling to her scales with my trusty white gel pen.)

We’ve had rain several times this last week… but no rainbows yet.
So, I decided I needed to make a card that features one! This wonderful
silhouette huddle is from a Beccy’s Place digi set, named Splish Splash. I printed one of the
umbrella digis onto rainbow stationery paper, printed it, then trimmed it to fit an A2-sized card. I used a free sentiment that emphasized the rainbow,
added photo corners, and left the inside blank so that the card can be used for
a number of reasons!

Oh my gosh, you are such a creative soul! Never would I ever think to take a photo of a screen saver to create a card... never. I absolutely LOVE the effect you've achieved, the water looks amazing. I have no idea what the "oopsies" were, but they certainly added to the effect.
ReplyDeleteYour little rainbow card is fabulous... love the sentiment. I agree that it would be suitable for a variety of occasions. It's nice to have some spare cards in the stash for those last minute events.
Cheers,
Beccy
