The Long Haul

I spent lots of time in my craft room today so her is another entry into the Simon Says Monday Challenge “Take Me For a Ride” I used a fun digi set from Beccy’s Place named “The Long Haul.” My card features an assortment of patterns, textures, and shapes including clear acetate (on the truck window), silver liners from coffee creamer containers (for gears), and sparkly star stickers. I printed off two copies of the truck cab, colored and fussy-cut one then popped it up with foam tape to add some 3-D fun to the card.

I love most critters, but especially dogs. So, this cute pup from Lemon Shortbread warms my heart! And the fact that he is a freebie makes for an even sweeter deal! The cute sentiment is also a freebie... Yay! The background was created with strips of bright colored cardstock from my scrap folders. I loved the kaleidoscope they create when woven together. However, they overwhelmed the pup, so I added a layer of vellum between the two. Problem solved!

  1. Great cards Kathy - and very clever to add the vellum to tone down the backing paper on your snippets card. Great tip!

  4. I love your truck card Kathy, what an awesome design! Great idea to add the acetate to the window to act as "glass". I also like that you fussy cut an extra cab to give some dimension to the image.
Your second card is fabulous too. The little horn player is adorable and I really like the addition of the sheet music background. Your stars are a fantastic addition.
The final card of your post rounds things out beautifully... that's one cute pup! Love the way you've coloured the image and I also like the great sentiment. Well done!
    Cheers,
    Beccy

  6. Kathy, I adore the pup (great coloring!) and have to put on my DT hat for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies in order to thank you for supporting our challenge over there. Then I have to say I think that fun little guy blowing his horn is delightful and you chose great papers. For that one, thanks for playing along in our Anything Goes challenge at Jan's Digi Stamps this month. Good luck and come play again.
