Friday Fun

It’s Friday and time for the Colour Crazy Challenge. This challenge is also an “Anything Goes” but it adds a requirement- the creation needs to include coloring in “any colouring medium you like, onto any project you like, and in any colours you like.” I’ve never outgrown my love for coloring… which is why making cards is stress therapy for me!!
This week's sponsor is Polkadoodles, and I had such a hard time selecting an image to use… that I decided to pick TWO! The first is an adorable image Winnie Mermazing. I colored and fussy cut the sweet Winnie, then created 3-D shadow box card for her  (instructions found HERE.) The porthole is made with a set of circle dies. I made a 3.5-inch circle cut from silver cardstock and a 3-inch one cut from an upcycled aluminum liner from a can of coffee.  After taping the two circles together, I cut a 2-inch circle from the center and used a piercing tool to attach silver brads. They hold the circles together and also add a bit of realism. The sentiment is a freebie (found  HERE.)

Supplies:
·   Digi- Polkadoodles (Winnie Mermazing)
·    Mermaid sentiment- A freebie (found HERE.)
·    Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·   Little B Dies- 2, 3, and 3.5 inch circles
·   Silver cardstock, upcycled liner from a coffee can and small silver brads
·   Assorted background papers, and a piercing tool from my stash
·   Patterned paper- Mermaid scales and water (Hobby Lobby)

My second Polkadoodles card features a set named Party Little Dude. The set includes the adorable Dude plus lots of extra sentiments and papers! I added some bling with stars cut from silver glitter cardstock. The inside sentiment is cut from one of the papers in the set because I liked the built-in stars. I added a bit of fun layering by cutting out the center of a large star and sliding a strip of black cardstock and patterned paper through it. Such a simple way to add a backdrop to the small sentiment!
Supplies:
·   Digi- Polkadoodles (Party Little Dude)
·   Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·   Assorted background papers from my stash
·   Star template from my scrapbook stash
·   Stars fussy-cut from silver glitter paper

Pattie's Creations Challenge- #172 Anything Goes

The temps here in Wisconsin have been hitting the 90’s for the last few days… and are expected to be even hotter this weekend. So I decided I could at least create a bit of “cool” in my craft room! I started with a burgundy striped base, made with a Printworks stencil I’ve had since the 90’s. A raid of my scrap bin yielded all the bits and pieces I needed to decorate the card. I stamped and embossed one lovely little snowflake and adhered it to a scrap of corrugated cardboard (upcycled from a Caribou coffee sleeve). This was attached to a square of burgundy paper, torn on all sides. I put everything together and stamped the sentiment. When finished, the card looked too blah. So I pulled it apart and did a bit of experimenting. First I cut the stenciled background stripes into horizontal strips, then positioned them back together to create a checkerboard pattern. And Voilà, a more interesting background! I also drug the torn edges of the burgundy square through gold pigment ink and embossed them with gold powder to add more bling to the card. After everything was put together I liked the results. So… ta-da! Or should I say ta-DONE?!
Supplies:
·   Tiny Snowflake wood- mount Stamp- Embossing Arts (company is no longer in business)
·   Front Sentiment “Thinking of You”- Printworks (retired)
·   Inside sentiment- Computer Generated (with a fun font that I had on an old laptop. Wish I could find it again!)
·   Stripe stencil- Printworks (no longer available) Note- I did find a similar one at a reasonable price HERE
·   Assorted paper, burgundy ink pad, gold pigment ink, embossing powder and stencil sponge from my stash
