Special Sentiment

It’s Friday, so time for another challenge at QKR Stampede!  Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself? My DT card features a wonderful sentiment from Eureka Stamps.  I’m making a gift packet of cards for a dear friend and this will be included. I love the warm feelings it conveys.  I’m entering this card into several challenges including Do-Al[l] Kreatives (For this unusual challenge, two DT members each provided a prompt and we must use both in our design. The prompts were Feminine+ Monochromatic. My card is a simple monochromatic with greys and neutrals (B&W) plus the flowers help provide a feminine tone.)
Supplies:
·    Sentiment- Eureka Digital Stamp (YouLovingWay)
·    Coordinated background papers, vellum, silver photo corners and a ribbon scrap from my stash
·    The silver paper behind the sentiment is an upcycled coffee liner.

For this card I made a variation of a pop-up front step panel card, using the instructions HERE but just following the first seven steps. I then attached the stamped image, that I had colored then fussy-cut. The sweet lamb with flower basket stamp is one of the first I ever purchased back in the late 90’s. At that time the company, Azadi Earles, was going out of business and I purchased several of them. I don’t use them very often these days as I usually use digis, but I have always appreciated that the AE wood-mount stamps always provide nice, clear impressions like this one. The sentiment is another wood mount stamp from Printworks Stamps.
Supplies:
·    Lamb Image- Azadi Earles Rubber Stamps (Company no longer in business)
·    Front Sentiment- Printworks Rubber Stamps “Easter Blessings to You” (No longer available)
·    Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·    Assorted background papers from my stash
·    Instructions for pop-up front card found HERE

While I had my Azadi Earles wood mounts out, I stamped another lamb image, this one swathed in warm winter clothes. I decided to make a Christmas card using a flap fold card as it’s base (the instructions are HERE.) I used sentiment stamps from an unknown company (I found the unmounted rubber stamps at our local Goodwill) and a Martha Stewart border punch to embellish the card.

·    Front and Inside Sentiments- unmounted rubber stamps from an unknown company

Midweek Fun

I like making Christmas cards year-round, so the Rudolph Days Challenge and Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge are favorites of mine. I had fun using one of Jan’s Digi sets named “Over the River” to make an Upright Z-fold Christmas card (a link with instructions to this fold is provided below.) I decided to keep coloring to a minimum… but of course, I had to add a bit of bling by frosting the snow that festoons the beautiful old truck with microfine glitter.  I’m entering this card into several other challenges including two, Simon Says Monday and Power Poppy, that have a musical theme (I can’t get the “I’ll be home for Christmas” tune out of my head!) and Scribbles Designs Challenge “Say It With Snow” (living in Wisconsin, nothing says Christmas like SNOW!)

Supplies:
·    Digi and inside sentiment- Jan’s Digis set (Over the River )
·    Upright Z-fold Card Instructions can be found HERE.
·    Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·    Assorted cardstock and background paper from my stash
·    Sparkly holly stickers- from my mom’s stash (which I inherited!)

I am absolutely in love with this sweet digi named “My Best Friend” from All Dressed Up Stamps. It is the featured digi this month at the Outlaws Progressive Challenge. (I’ve picked up several free images through this challenge. It has one rule/offer… feature the digi provided in a papercrafted item, and you’ll automatically get the next months featured digi for free!) I colored the digi then layered it atop an oval cut from burgundy-colored cardstock and a larger oval cut from a wine-colored plastic document folder. (These wonderful items come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. I really like using them on my cards because they're cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  The plastic is easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors.) I’m entering this card into several other challenges including the Bugaboo Stamps color challenge (I included several shades of burgundy, red and pink, plus shades of gray) plus the Path of Positivity Challenge (I’m a dog lover and feel that nothing quite matches the excited welcome that our dogs always offered when I came home from work each day. They gave meaning to the words love and adoration. Although they crossed the rainbow bridge nearly two decades ago… but I still miss them!)

My final card for this posting features a cute digi set from Little Scraps of Heaven named “So Bright.” I printed the bear on kraft brown cardstock, then added some color and accents with vellum, a scrap of red plastic document folder (heart) and a silver marker. (I used the circle of vellum to make it look like the lightbulb is aglow… at least that was my intention!) I’m entering this card into several other challenges including Cute Card Thursday (I used a square card base and envelope.)

I love this adorable image from Di’s Digis named “Three Chilly Polar Bears” and wanted to provide a stage for this chilly trio. Decided to make a z-fold card with a  tutorial form Pinterest. (There are lots of options. THIS is my favorite.)  I made an extra z0fold strip with acetate so that I could suspend a die-cut snowflake border across the top of the card. I provided a closeup photo of this strip.  The left end is positioned on the cardstock base and taped down before I adhered the patterned paper over it. Then, after positioning the reset of the acetate strip across the top of the card, I cut a slit in the patterned paper and slipped the right end of the acetate into the slit before taping the patterned paper down. This secures both ends of the acetate and also hides the ends of the acetate from sight.) Although the patterned paper provides a few snow-themed sentiments, I did add a Warm Winter Wishes greeting on the back of the card which will be sent to my 97-year-old MIL later this week.
Supplies:
·    Polar Bears- Di’s Digis (Three Chilly Polar Bears)

My final card for this post features a wonderful sailboat image from PSX. I created it for the Sketch N Scrap challenge and the Simon Says Monday Challenge, “Frame It.”  I opted for a more masculine looking card, swapping the heart shape in the sketch with a star cut from a blue plastic document folder to frame the sailboat image. (Note- I use plastic document folders, of plastic index dividers, often on my cards. They come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores, and also at many dollar stores. I really like using them on my cards because they're cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  The plastic is easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors.)
