Midweek Fun

This entry for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge inspired by the letter "G" is Gate Fold Card. I love this image and sentiment from Beccy's digi set named "Tied Up With String." To add a little depth to the color, I printed the burlap section on kraft brown paper, fussy-cut and colored it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, white colored pencil and white gel pen. I attached the kraft brown section with foam tape to add even more depth.

Created this card for the Simon Says Monday Challenge named Make Your Own Background. Wanted to make something different, so dug through my stamp tool graveyard and found my corrugator. I haven't used it in years, but was kinda like riding a bike… didn't take long to get the hang of it again. Because I wanted the focus to be on the background, I used a small and simple image from an oooold Stampin' Up wood mount set and just added a few touches of color that worked well with the corrugated scraps. I "double corrugated" the tan parchment background to create a subtle waffle grid texture [that allows me to enter the card into the current Mod Squad Challenge- Modern Grid.]

I created my final card for this post to enter into the new challenge at Double D's named "Wishes are Possible." It features a vintage PSX rubber stamp that was actually one of the first stamps I ever purchased in the early 90's.  I decided to focus on the sentiment, keeping the background and coloring of the sweet image simple. Used a strip of paper ribbon as a stencil for the background. And colored Teddy's ribbon with a Burgundy Tombow marker and white gel pen.   Note- [I've had the sentiment in my files for a few decades. Have tried to find it via google so that I could credit the source, and have found a few similar sayings, but not this one. So, if any reader recognizes its source, please let me know. Thanks.]

  2. I just love the way you added the glow around the candle flame Kathy, it's warm and inviting. Great idea to print the burlap on kraft paper, it's given the image a nice base for you to work on.
What a cool way to use an old gadget... I don't think I've seen anyone double crimp a piece of card before. The resulting texture is awesome! It reminds me a little bit of basket weave. I'm not even sure I still have a crimper, but your card has made me want to search it out.
Your third card has a fabulous sentiment of which I am in total agreement. The image is adorable and I love how you did the background. The card has a real vintage vibe going on. Well done!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
